Ms. Juki is properly attired and ready to join Ms. Sweetie. The thread used was the same as previous, Sulky Viskose in pink and, also this time, green. The small gray ‘flap’ on the top of the cover is the opening for the handle, since this machine is all metal and heavy! The front panel is a little raw edge applique with a touch of thread painting.
Filling out the space are some simple shapes with machine “hand stitching”/sashiko-type stitching done on my Bernina 440 QE, who is the little miss next on the ever shortening waiting list of party goers.
Beautiful cover. I love your FMQing! I really need to make a cover for my Juki. Thanks for linking up with Sew Cute Tuesday:)
So glad you were ‘inspired’ by this fun project(s). When I started them I thought these would be a great way to try some stitching that I didn’t have the confidence to do on a quilt. Just finished 4 tablerunners with the same idea–do some stitching that I haven’t tried previously. Will be doing a new post tomorrow on these. Hope you are able to ‘dress up’ your Juki soon! Hugs, Doreen
Wow! you seem to be on a roll. This one is awesome too. Your paisley FMQ looks awesome. Love your color choices and the motif detail is wonderful!
Hugs,
Malini
Yup, “on a roll”!! 2 more covers done ready for binding at the bottom. Will post tomorrow. The Moda jelly roll (“Cabbages & Roses”) is something I spotted when in South Dakota last December. Got home then had the shop gal (my friend Ani) mail it to me! The colors are cheerful without being too much Spring/Summer. Blessings, Doreen
So nice!!! I’m a new follower….a big kiss!!!
Hello, Simona!! I am thrilled to “meet” you and hope we can share our life adventures/experiences and have a few smiles along the way. As you explore my blog you will find the focus is very diverse….you may even say ‘scattered’!
I’ve just paid a quick peek into your blog/world and love it! I look forward to joining you on your walk and getting to know a bit of your part of this glorious world. Hugs and blessings, Doreen
This is fabulous Doreen!!! You have mad quilting skills! Mad, I say!
This is a repeat convo, Ruthie……did someone say “MAD”…HEHEHEHEhehehe…….I am off to my la-bor-atory…….(wringing hands while slinking upstairs….)!
Oops… If I said it once, it’s important (and appropriate) enough to say twice! LOL! (I say the same thing when I buy a book and find it’s twin already in my stash!) I can see you slinking off to your lab with Igor!
Creak, creak (those are my joints not the floor squeeks!)………
My joints hear you…
Hmmmmm…..sistas separated at birth!??????
I’m sure! I’ve have lots of sista’s from another mother!
Ohhhhhh….I see (I think!?!)
Great paisleys! I think it is my favorite pattern. You combined all of the patterns into your project in very creative ways, with a wonderful result.
The paisley pattern has become my “go to” for many of my projects. It can replicate feather plumes if done a certain way in all-over patterns. Thanks so much for your encouraging remarks! Blessings, Doreen
Well done and so beautiful! My wife said that Juki is top!
I love that Juki machine and would recommend that one to anyone who is looking for a dependable, powerful, accurate, no-frills stitching machine. I appreciate your comments so much and “Hello!” to your wife, too! Blessings, Doreen
Very nice–so cute! The shape reminds me of an old airstream trailer, and that’s fun too.
A very excellent simile!!! Now that you have mentioned it, it really does have those characteristics! I am really glad to have my machines covered better as our home has a tendency to be quite dusty (ugh!), even though we run HEPA filters in the furnace unit. I think being surrounded by farmland and living in a farmhome may have something to do with it!! Thank you for taking the time to write. Hugs, Doreen
I keep meaning to make a cover for my machine. Your’s is really inspirational — the paisley design is wonderful.
Really it was a fun/challenging project. Drafting a basic “pattern” (I use that term very loosely!) was quite enjoyable. I really got a ton of ‘mileage’ out of the “Jelly Roll 1600” pieced top that I am using in all these. The last of it will be a tablerunner or two and there will be nothing remaining (which was my goal!). Making these covers has really brightened up my sewing room (made it look a lot more ‘clean’, too) Please, stop by again! Hugs, Doreen
You’ve inspired me to work on covers for my machines. Yours are really cool.
I am finding that this/these projects have had that affect on so many!! That’s good ‘cuz I think that these are investments deserving of some “pretttying-up”. Now that I have almost completed covers for the 4 I use the most and have setting out, I feel better walking in to the sewing area and seeing them actually helps inspire me to move forward on the next project(s). I am so happy you stopped for a moment to comment. I hope you come back again for a visit…..Blessings, Doreen
She looks ready to party, despite her initial obstinance, or so you told me yesterday.
Sometimes setting a spell allows the inevitable to “sink in” and cooperation follows……LOL!
Cute! I think of my Juki as manly… so far I’m calling him Jake.
Well…..at one point I did think more that way but her FMQ ability was so fluid and wonderful that I changed my assessment!
Love it !!
Thank you!! Hugs…….
That is a good color and fit for Ms J!
She seems to be pleased…..hehe!
I know you have your sweetie now for quilting but did you use your Juki for that before and did you like it for machine quilting?
Yes. The Juki (with its larger harp space–9″ wide and taller) was my “go to” machine and the one I did all my FMQ on before last November. Buying that machine (around 1&1/2 yrs ago) made moving the fabric, and sewing in general, so much easier. The machine is awesome….super for 1/4″ piecing, too! It is still the machine I use for sewing.
Beautifully made, your colors, and techniques are also. Thanks for sharing Ms J outfit. Mtetar
You ‘betcha’! The last 2 (I think…) will be finished tomorrow. Been a fun project. Thank you for stopping by and your kind words…..Blessings, Doreen
The same to you Doreen. Always a pleasure stopping by to see such beautiful Quilts Presentation. Mtetar
Fantastic cover! I thought I recognised the machine. Mine is the TL98P 🙂 Happy weekend! Avis x
They are really great machines…..super for FMQ and the stitches are so well formed and straight! And the price is so right for a heavy, all metal machine! Have a great weekend, too, hugs,Doreen
I love your machine covers. I really need to do this for my Janome.
It really has helped bring a little more ‘order’ to my sewing area! And it is helping me destash!! Hugs, D
