The snow is almost gone, the daffodils are blooming, the tulips…getting ready to show off their Spring(?) colors and I’m on to the next project! The quilt we normally have on our bed during the winter was a purchased one many years ago. It is time to rectify this situation. After some fun time with the rotary cutter, I have this…….
And this………. The flowers are fussy cut from a tablecloth of my grandmother and will be one of several that will be appliqued onto the pieced top. I have done one similar to this for my daughter-in-law in a lap size. Shown here:
Ours will be a full-bed size and to the floor for ‘drop’. I will need quite a bit more of the Stonehenge fabric (in the lower right corner of the 1st photo) but that is some newer/just purchased fabric and is currently available. The yellow is extra wide backing material. Stay tuned for future progress…………..
Neat project! So that’s what you were cutting! I love the black and white with the shot of color. I can’t wait to see your progress!
The applique cutting is taking a bit longer than anticipated but coming along nicely. Am enjoying every moment of it!!! Hugs, Doreen
Looks like a beauty in the making!
Thanks so much! I’m excited ’bout this one!-b
Glad to hear that the warmer weather is on its way!
But what I really want to say is I want that quilt!!! 🙂 It is gorgeous!
Thank you so much! If you lived a tad closer I would let you caress it a bit!! LOL!
The black and white is stunning and the flowers really stand out. In fact all the fabrics are perfect together. The one for your DIL and your future one are made in the true spirit of quilting. Bringing new life to an old treasure. It will be wonderful to see your bed cover as it progresses.
Got a bit done today. I love its simplicity. Stay tuned……..
Lovely fabrics – this is going to be beautiful!
It was a great project first time around and I’m enjoying this even more! Hugs….
Most definitely you need one of your handcrafted beauties gracing your bed. What I really like is the idea of incorporating flowers from your grandmother’s tablecloth into the quilt. I collect vintage tablecloths.
And I have so many of my grandma’s linens, too. I have so many ideas of how to incorporate them into quilts (see this link…… http://blog.cindyneedham.com/ ). I’ll be working on the appliques now that I have used up some of the fabric I thought I had for this project!!
Oh I love the colors!!! That is going to be one lovely quilt!!!
Even though it”s somewhat of a repeat design, it was so enjoyable first time around that I am really looking forward to doing it.I’m aiming to do a sew-day on Thursday! The colors (black & mint green) remind me of chip n’ mint ice cream…hehe!
Have we turned “that” corner (finally)???? My Spring flowers are certainly hoping so!! LOL!
DIL’s quilt is gorgeous! Will be waiting to see yours! And there is such special meaning in both quilts with the flowers. And this truly has been a beautiful Monday!
I love this quilt! How special to be using your Grandmother’s tablecloth. So dramatic in the black, white and grey with the flowers adding that splash of colour. Can’t wait to see your bed version!
I am really “antsy” to get going on it but the warm weather pulls me outdoors. This project may take a bit!! Your comment expresses exactly the way i feel, too!
Lovely fabrics. Your DIL’s quilt is beautiful. It’s a lovely idea to make the most of those carnations 🙂
The applique idea worked so well on DIL’s and I had just enough to do another, so here we go……..
What an idea! The Laptop Size Quilt is very beautiful as one can see such great creativity as so with all your work in quilt making. I’m awaiting to see this next beauty of a Master Piece. Be Blessed, Mtetar
Stay tuned!! This may be “in progress” for a while….LOL!
I’m believing in a much earlier finished project. You’re nit the one for UFOS. Be Blessed, Doreen! Always, Mtetar
LOL! In light of today’s post……you are so right!!! Hugs……
You’re well on your way to completion. Hope it’s not too long to get the balance fabric you need. Be Blessed, Mtetar
One of the more local quilt shops possibly has the needed fabric, but I/we will be in South Dakota very shortly and I know for sure that one of my favorite shops out there has it, so I will make an attempt at some patience! LOL! Hugs, Doreen
You’ve it, and lots of it. Blessings, Mtetar
beautiful! a great day here as well.
Am so glad the weather has finally broke for all of us!!! Hugs, D
