Today was an unplanned day at home, so I headed to the sewing room for the morning, resulting in this………
I am a happy camper! This afternoon, to celebrate the temps actually resembling something like summer (80F+), we hopped on the cycles and took the long way to LaCrescent (MN). Beautiful bluff/valley views (no photos, sorry……they would have been a blur, anyhow!!!) and fresh air…..lovely.
The next fabric for this project is a Stonehenge print/motif and I have none! Oh dear! What to do!! Sigh….guess I’ll have to mosey to a quilt shop. Wait!!! In a week we head out to the Black Hills and several of my favorite shops. In the mean time, I will be working on the appliques and cutting more sashing strips. To be continued……..
How beautiful, love those fabrics together 🙂
Me, too! I’m on a hunt to find more of the sashing fabric. It was a purchase from last August and the bolt was a close out. I knew I should have bought the whole thing!!!!!!
I love the pale turquoise against the black. So nice! I am happy you guys could get your bikes out and go for a ride. I know how you feel. I’ve been so happy to finally have riding weather!
Still haven’t gotten out since then…..rain won’t quit and now a bit of flooding! Sitting in Belle Fourche, S.D., for a week of visiting friends, quilt shops, restaurants, etc!!!! Yum!
my new favorite
You are such an awesome “fan”! See ya in about 1&1/2 weeks!!!!! Hugs, D
I just love this!!! It is awesome! Can’t wait to see how you quilt it…
Me too!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!
That sure came together in a hurry! I like the soothing effect the green has on the black & whites.
Isn’t that light sage/mint green wonderful?? I wish I could remember where I bought it!!!!!! I had 3 yards and am hoping to complete this larger quilt. I might have to do more with the darker Stonehenge fabric on the borders. The main thing was getting the center done with it…..and I’m happy! Hugs, Doreen
Such pretty colors! I wouldn’t have thought to put those together.
Very ’50 ish! Or should I say “retro”!?! Always reminds me of Chocolate chip and mint ice cream! Hugs, Doreen
Hi Doreen! That’s beautiful! You were really quick! I tried yesterday to leave a comment to your earlier post but from Bloglovin it leads to Fb. Today the same here so I came from your comment. I think blogger worked better and also showed the blog address on the browser. Have a great day! x Teje
Had a bit of trouble with WP on Monday but got it fixed. Sometimes these blog “kids” don’t play well together!!! Lovely 78F day here…..lovin’ it!! Hugs, Doreen
Hey it’s looking good. Hope you find the Stonehenge fabric.
I have every confidence!!! Blessings…..
I wonder how many fabrics you’ve purchased for quilting. The variety of patterns and colors you show us here just amaze me. As does your incredible talent and speedy work. Glad you got out on the bikes today.
The thrill of the “hunt” is one of the wonderful stages of pulling a quilt together. The black & white pieces didn’t take as long to find as the right shade of green (which, I hope, I have enough of!!). I bought all that there was and don’t remember where or when! Usually, I journal such info!! Ha!
Wow! this quilt is stunning! Simple design yet so beautiful. Love the applique I saw in your previous post.
Guess what, just last month Stonehenge fabrics were on sale @FatQuarterShop.
Happy Quilting!
Malini
I will have to hop on over and check out the current situation!! Thanks for the heads up…..I forget about that site, believe it or not!! LOL! Thanks for stopping by….hugs, Doreen
You’re good. I start my day by checking those sites ;).
LOL!
Trying hard to brake that habit!
Hugs,
Malini
I absolutely know what you mean! I get much more finished when I get more of a “jump-start” on the day and let the ‘puter wait til later!!!! LOL! Hugs, D
I love you quilt top. Your sashing choice is great.
It is so interesting that you would comment on that fabric!! I am always on the hunt for that shade of green fabric. The yardage, I purchased for DIL’s quilt and what’s left (hopefully) will be adequate for this one, is coming to an end! I bought all that the quilt shop had a long time ago knowing that it was going to be tough to find more. Will be my goal this summer FOR SURE!!! I love, love, love this color (can you tell???? LOL!)
Black Hills 🙂 that should be nice!!
I can’t wait! From Hot Springs to Belle Fourche; from quilt shop to quilt shop!!!! Throw in a few restaurants and visiting with friends…..a perfect week!!
Love love love this, Doreen!!! So glad you got to pack in some sewing time. 😉
Hugs!
(Smiling broadly!) Thank you!
It is so beautiful! I love the colors and the prints!!! It is such a wonderful thing to have “found time” to do something wonderful like quilt, right??? Enjoy!
Thanks, I hope to get a little further along tomorrow!
You’re one fast worker, but than again its your passion. What a Blessed and fulfill day. It is coming along beautifully. I look forward to the completion. Be Blessed, Mtetar
Thank you, dear Friend!
You’re welcome, Doreen! Be Blessed, Mtetar
Love this quilt – the aqua is just perfect with it. Sounds like such fun out on the bikes – the closest I get is the hood down on my little car!! Such a shame to have to visit a quilt store, but I guess someone has to help the economy! Happy shopping!!
Ya know…..that’s exactly the way I feel. I’m just doing my civic duty, right???????
How can you concentrate ?? By remaining focused lol 🙂
(Chuckling out loud!!) Focus….hard to do when the beautiful weather beckons…..but I’ll work at it!!! LOL!!!
totally agree!! summer IS summer….
And so long overdue!!!!!
Those unexpected days in the sewing room are the best!
You got that right! Can’t believe how much I accomplished!
