The last few days…….

Have been non-stop busy! How about you??? Of course, the first event was the 4th of July. Great fireworks and a beautiful day……..no more river/RV high water photos (for a while, I hope!!). On Saturday we celebrated our great grand daughter’s 2nd birthday…and it took place at the (Mississippi) river ‘cuz that’s where everyone seemed to be!! As with most children, the simplest of gifts took the spotlight and she spent most of her time with her “bubbles”! 004 Once again, the weather was perfect and the ‘birthday girl’ glowed with the attention! 003  Just a few photos to commemorate the occasion…….002005007006011  It was a very happy “Dora the Explorer” birthday celebration! And Monday……….well, back to the stitching!……..

It was fun to have the party at the camper….AND have such a gorgeous day/weather! Very relaxing and a good visiting time…why is it that we seem to need to “justify” just sitting and visiting!!!????!!!!

You are such a lucky woman to be able to be with your grandkids and great grands! Of my 16 grands, I’ve only seen/hugged 4 in person, and none of my great grands…8-( I like being a great grandmother, but I’m not so sure about being the MOTHER of a GRANDFATHER!! And now I find out that another of my sons is making me another great grandchild…..I’m too young for that….lol. Enjoy that little doll and all of the others and give her a hug for me.

You are so funny!! LOL! I hear ya on the “mother of a grandfather” part. The “grandfather” in this case sports a Mohawk haircut, too!!!!!! Definitely a different day and age!! Love it! Sorry you are missing so much of your g.grands’ lives. Being a g.grandparent is very much different than being a ‘grand.’…….one more generation removed…..kinda weird feeling!!! The b’day girl will be getting a little sis very soon (like at any time now!!!)! Hugs……

It was a great week! And that little one is a doll! So glad you could be back at the river again. Sure hope the storms we are expecting don’t change your water levels.

    • treadlemusic says:

We have found out that the water levels, although influenced by the rains, are being very much controlled by the Corps of Engineers at the dams from Mpls/St.P all the way down the river. They are either releasing high volumes of water (up river) or holding back the flow (down river) to control flooding. Very interesting! And yes, little Payten is a doll and quite sweet tempered, also! A huge blessing for the first child……2nd due at any time!!!! Then we’ll see how big sis does. I think she will be great at “mothering” (smile). Hugs……

I have found over the years that really little kids love the inexpensive presents the best – older they get it gets harder!!

    • treadlemusic says:

Oh my!!! You said it correctly!!! It is the adults who begin to set the bar (along with advertisers) and the kids start wanting/demanding(?) outrageously $$$$ items. I am thinking that, for some, the word ‘no’ has been removed from the English language!!!!!!

  5. Doreen,
Oh she is so precious! Happy Birthday to your great-grand daughter.

My son will be turning 2 end of this month :-).
    Hugs,

We all kept remarking how absolutely gorgeous the day and surroundings were. After all the flooding it was so good to be able to sit and enjoy!!!! Hugs…….

  7. What a wonderful day with family. And that darling two-year-old is cute as a button.

  8. Looks like you are having a great summer! What a little cutie!

    • treadlemusic says:

We are and I’m still a bit in shock that it’s this far in to July already!!!! Raspberries are coming now and our first cherry tree (tart/pie) was picked yesterday. Today we ‘pit’…LOL! The days speed by!!

  9. witchylin says:

What a little cutie. Sure she enjoyed her Birthday and all the attention. The two year olds I know prefer the box to the present. I bet the bubbles gave her a lot of laughs. How nice to see the sun and no flooding. Thank you for sharing those happy pictures. 🙂

    • treadlemusic says:

Ah, yes. The box is always the best part! She received many gifts (crayons, color books, bracelets/necklaces, etc), a darling trike, but kept reaching for one of the bottles of bubbles. I hope some of the adults “got the message”. We are all so blessed with so much! It really was a wonderful day!!!! So glad you stopped by…..hugs and blessings to you……

  10. Looks like a lovely celebration – fabulous cake!!
