Late day “Wordless Wednesday”……..

Last evening, as I looked out the window toward our backyard, I was greeted by this scenario…………001002003  At one point, there were 5 of these long-legged beauties calmly enjoying the apples that had fallen from those trees. The smaller deer (right, foreground) had just been up to this window, attracted by the light, I suppose. Anyhow, these critters have so increased in numbers in the past few years that the many collisions that occur now aren’t vehicle hitting deer but rather deer hitting vehicle/motorcycle (most often broadside!)……definitely NOT a ‘good thing’. This fact has curtailed much of our riding, especially in the evenings.

Now, on to my Thursday and the necessary bridal alterations…………

  1. Deer are beautiful and fun to watch. But those collisions of deer and vehicles and bikes, yes, always quite worrisome. You and DH are wise to curtail your evening cruises.

Do you have problems with deer eating your flowers and nibbling on trees, and not just the apples?

Hi Doreen! Just amazing that you can look those beauties on you back yard! But it’s not good if you need to be worried about them on the road and can’t enjoy your rides. Take care! x Teje

Awww, they’re so beautiful! It’s too bad they have multiplied so much that they, cars, and humans are dying from their numbers.

What a wonderful view! However, I understand your concern about riding in the evenings and fencing in gardens. I just find watching wildlife very peaceful and treasure that time. I think seeing the deer like this is definitely stress relief.

What a lovely way to spend a few minutes resting from your alterations…. they are so graceful…

We too have several of these beauties around us. Just in last couple of days, I’ve seen at least two sets of “twin” fawns with their mammas. Ours are out alot in early morning also. With this terrible heat, I feel so sorry for them, but then they seem to be handling it ok.

  7. What a great sight! Yeah, we’re always cautious this time of year with evening riding, too.
