Hiking in the hills………

We didn’t do as much hiking as we really should have, considering the number of fabulous meals we consumed!! The hiking/biking/horse trails are everywhere. Our favorite area, or at least the one we seem to go back to often, is Spearfish Canyon. Maybe it’s because the narrow, 45 mph, 18& 1/2 mile road leads us to the Cheyenne Crossing Café……..ya think….possibly??? Anyhow, the winding climbing  road has an abundance of interesting paths, waterfalls and places of such awesome beauty that just beg to be explored. Grab a cuppa, sit back and I’ll show you a small sample………Black Hills Trip 130Black Hills Trip 131Black Hills Trip 132Black Hills Trip 137Black Hills Trip 138Black Hills Trip 139Black Hills Trip 140Black Hills Trip 142Black Hills Trip 143Black Hills Trip 144Black Hills Trip 148Black Hills Trip 150Black Hills Trip 155Last time we were here there was such a lovely bridge at this point. This area has experienced downpours that have altered much of the trails!Black Hills Trip 156  The lush green scenery found here is what we are so used to in our S.E. MN Coulee Region/Mississippi River Bluffland. Maybe that’s part of the ‘draw’/appeal for us.

Our hills, here where we live, are the same feel….just a mite(?) lower in elevation. Guess that’s why we feel “at home” in the Black Hills! It’s a “photo op” everywhere you turn!!!!!
