This is a 30” sq. table topper that was amongst the stash from my friend Alice. She had pieced, sandwiched and pin-basted it in preparation for a “someday” finish. That finish came yesterday afternoon when I stitched a graceful “swirly vine” motif and added the binding and label. This will find its way to a mutual friend’s home in MA (where we spent several days on our recent trek). This couple, together with DH and I, were Friday nite coffee-ers at Alice’s home every week for many years. Such sweet times together! Jean was one of our original members in the local quilt group I go to (as was Alice). I thought this little remembrance would be a much-loved addition to Jean & Ed’s home.
It sure does a body good to be able to pick up and complete a project in quick fashion, hmmmmm?
Love it – look really pretty.
Great looking table topper! Yes, it always feels good to finish up an UFO. Love your quilting always. By the way, I live in MA. Won’t it be nice you visit us sometime while you’re here. Alice? That name sounds familiar, is she part for BMQG?
I didn’t realize your location or I would have put you in to our travel plan!!!!! I am sure we will be coming back your way!!! Have made a location note on my ‘puter!!!! No, Alice just belonged to my local little quilt group…..no internet. Thank you so much for your sweet words. Hugs……….
That would be awesome! :-).
🙂
Oh it is so beautiful!!! It will be something that will be loved for years to come—so thoughtful of you to share with your friends!!! SO fun to have a quick project to finish up and pass on!
Yup…..it’s really nice to sit back and say “it’s done”! (like someone who did an insane number of handmade cards……who shall remain nameless!!!!!!)
Haha! I just got the sweetest thank you card from Hospice today signed by the whole staff from the looks of it! How sweet is that??
And a special acknowledgement of the multiplied blessings that are/will be going out to many hurting people. Blessings to you………..
I know it will be cherished for many years.
😉
Looks great. I agree the quilting is the perfect finish for such a special project. It is good you have been able to bring Alice’s work to life and to share it with another of her friends.
It is comforting to touch something that I know my friend once put together and such a privilege to pass it along to another sweet mutual friend. This has been quite a year!!! Thanks so much for stopping by, dear Friend…….
Oh yes — lovely finish dear!
Thank you………
I expect Jean will cherish this memory of Alice forever. How thoughtful of you to gift this to Jean.
She impacted so many!
Alice sounds like a dear sweet friend who loved people and life and quilting. You must miss her so.
Really like that
Thank you and I’m so glad you “popped” by for a visit!!! Hugs………
looking good! The FMQ really fits the feel of the table topper!
