“Christmas Time is Here”………..

Is the catchy theme song from “A Charlie Brown Christmas” and the song that I open each of the days I play piano at the hospital in Winona, MN, during this special season. I think everyone is ready for some soothing joyous piano during their wait for various clinic appointments or their ride home. Some sing, or hum along, or quietly sit and sip the hot cider and coffee that’s provided or simply snooze in the warmth of the sunshine that floods the area. It may be blustery and cold outside but the spirit is warm and pleasant inside. Today, DH managed a few photos as I finished up today………..SG Christmas & WH piano 004   That is one focused gal!!!!! Yesterday was spent with my quilt group in Spring Grove, MN. There were 34 of us and the chatting, lunch, sharing and small gift exchange was festive and merry. The room decorations were perfectly charming as was the company of gals present. Just a couple of photos…….I was too busy enjoying myself to ‘snap’ any more!!!!! Doreen, that’s a wonderful thing to do, I am following you religiously, keep up the good work and your comments coming, one day we may get out your way again and would love to me you, we also ride a Harley.

Yay!!!! This year’s piano was a total blessing for ME!!! Previous years have been a digital model similar to the one I use at home these days. Perfectly fine but this year the hospital leased this baby grand acoustic piano and the response from those in the area has supported my feelings about that type (acoustic) of instrument……the sound quality cannot be matched and the healing properties of music are from heaven for sure!!! I am the one blessed by the hearers!!!
I look forward to the future possibility of a meet-up!!!! Hugs ………….

May God continues to Bless you for caring about others. Blessings, Mtetar

  3. Doreen, what a joy it must have been for those at the hospital to hear the music you played upon the grand. I agree that the sound can’t be matched. We have a baby grand in our church.

Bless you for being the giving person you are.

that must be nice playing the piano at the hospital – a very good idea for the holiday season. Bet the party was fun too.

    • treadlemusic says:

The party was fun!!!! The music started about 5 years ago. The first year was somewhat last minute but the kitchen staff came through with decorated cookies and all sorts of goodies! They have risen to the occasion ever since which contributes so much to the “specialness” of the time!!!!

Such a gift, to provide Christmas music for those at the Hospital. I’m sure it helps take their minds off the reason they are at the hospital (although I know some are there for happy reasons too).

    • treadlemusic says:

The location near the main entrance/foyer is mostly for those with clinic/specialist appt. They come by private car or van transit and it’s kind of a waiting area (near a coffee/pastry kiosk) so the ppl traffic is really high. The perfect spot for me!!!! Very relaxed atmosphere. The music is able to be heard down the long waiting room area, too, and up on the mezzanine just above.

    Looks like fun! Merry Christmas!

I am sure you bring many a smile to a sad face and an even bigger grin to an already happy one. Hospital waiting areas can be awful places, but with folk like you cheering those there the whole atmosphere will be happy. I agree the sound of an acoustic piano is so much nicer. Top marks to the kitchen staff too. This time of year brings out the best in people. 🙂

  8. You guys must have had fun…! And I’m loving the christmassy wreath hanging behind you 🙂

    • treadlemusic says:

I love that wreath, too!!! In previous years there’s been a large tree and the piano was much smaller. This year’s piano takes up so much space that a beautiful Christmas Village is set up nearby just under the stairs with wreaths on many of the walls. Perfect!!!!! So glad you stopped by!!! Hugs………

When I first started reading this I thought you wrote “guilt group” & I was trying to figure out what kind of group this could be. I had to re-read a few times to figure out it was quilt group.

    • treadlemusic says:

I had to double check to make sure I didn’t strike the wrong keys!! LOL! Yup, quilt……no guilt!!!!! well, maybe some might feel that way!!!! Thanks for stopping by!!!! Hugs…….

What a blessing to all your music was; I can only imagine the joy and comfort they must have felt listening to you play. “Hugs to you for doing that”! P.S… I can even see the snow outside in your pics…!

    • treadlemusic says:

Yup! The snow is definitely here and not going anywhere anytime soon!! Makes it a lot easier to play “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas”!!! LOL!!! I was the one blessed many time over!!!!! Hugs………
