A “Heart Need” priority……………

Recently I was informed that a good friend of mine was diagnosed with a brain tumor. She had the necessary surgery but the news was the worst. Of the types of tumors/cancers that are possible/treatable hers is the worst of the worst. I wanted to create something “quilty” that would give her some cozy comfort in the days ahead as she begins a very rough treatment schedule that will try to slow the disease growth. Yesterday I picked up the final piece of fabric for the borders and sashing. Can you say ‘70’’s flashback?????????????????Stained Glass 003

And here it is with the “Cuddle Fleece” backing…………..Stained Glass 004

These will be paired with a charm pack from Moda’s “Surrounded by Love” by Deb Strain and  a Michael Miller fat quarter plus some fill-in squares from my stash (yay for stash!!!!!!).

So, from the above, we go to this………………………………Stained Glass 005

Then this……………………………………………Stained Glass 006

To this…………………………………………..Stained Glass 007

Fun!!!!!!!! Next installment……..the finish………very soon…………………………

I’m sure your friend will be comforted in knowing that you care – one day hopefully the treatments will be easier for a person than they are now.

This piecing is so ‘her’ (funky prints, etc). And, yes, the treatments are so challenging/debilitating for such a devastating disease. A miracle is the only answer at this point. Hugs………………………………..

A lovely and comforting gesture! My friend did the same when a mutual friend was diagnosed with cancer early last year. That quilt brought her much comfort as I know this one will to your friend. I’m sorry for your friend, and for you.

Finding words of comfort are not easy but giving your love in such a quilt is truly inspirational. Your love will surround Lynne whenever she cuddles into those wonderful colours. My thoughts and blessings are with her.
