(Almost) Finished Friday……………

Yes, I’m still here and quilting but some “life issues” have taken me away from the machine the last few days. Posts may be a bit sporadic ‘til we can come to some type of resolution. Sorry for the “mystery”.

The client’s star quilt I’ve been working on is very close to its completion so I thought I would show some close-ups. The border is done in a modified “Baptist Fan”………..Marsha's quilt 004  You may say……What!!!! No feathers!!!???? There is so much “going on” in the main portion of this quilt that something that would fill the area, without fussiness or too much formality (feathers?) was needed. The other thing that needed to be accommodated was that 2 borders are quite wide and the other 2 are about half that width. This results in corners that don’t have a ‘square’ area to nicely have the quilt design turn. Marsha's quilt 008  The one I chose works extremely well in all of these sections and I am pleased with the contrast to the star portions. A few more peeks……………………………………….

Last Monday was my larger quilt group meeting but, because it was my turn to serve lunch (along with 2 other gals), I only managed to ‘snap’ 2 photos. These are beautiful rug hookings by Kathy, whose awesome website is here. Hop on over for a quick look/see…..I’ll wait…………. She’s an accomplished quilter, too!! Trying to balance the two arts but I/we keep pulling her to the dark quilt side!! She shared these two beauties…………………………….

Marsha's quilt 002  This is one of a set of chair cushion covers.

Marsha's quilt 003  And, perhaps, a table runner?

The weekend is, once again, upon us! Each moment is a gift…….cherish it! Now, I think I’ll go sew……………………………

Til next time………………………….

So … I’m kind of going backwards on looking at posts. I surely hope that the mystery is resolved soon and that you and your loved ones are well

I do love the quilt Doreen – your various quilting techniques are awesome. Those rugs your friend Kathy had were pretty; as much as I’d love to do it, no, too much sewing/quilting to do. I know about those live issues – so keeping you in my prayers.

Thanks so much!!!! Creative “juices” can go in so many directions but I’ve finally settled in to my quilting. Not that long ago I tried to do it all and I have the various tools, etc to prove it!!!!!! I truly covet your prayers………hugs……..

The quilt looks lovely Doreen. I do like the fan on the blue border.
Thinking of you and hoping all will be well very soon.

Thank you so much! Hopefully we will have some ‘hints’ as to what’s going on by the end of the week. So glad you stopped by!!!!!! A gorgeous day, on the cool side, here!!! Uber hugs……………………

That quilt is amazing and your special touches that you add are just perfect. What an interesting side note with the hooked rugs. I did not know anyone did those much anymore so how great to see these works of art! Hugs.

Kathy’s creations are most incredible! As she shows on her site, all her patterns are original with her. She dyes all her wools and they are a rainbow of beauty!!!!!! Rug hooking is really popular around here. Her Decorah workshop is a very well attended one.

  5. I love the baptist fan FMQ. Did you do it free-hand or marked then lines? Your work is just amazing.
Love those rug ventures from your friend Kathy :-).

Love the quilting! I think Leah Day calls your border quilting Echo Fan – I enjoy doing it. Hope your life issues get resolved soon.

Thank you, dear Friend. And thanks for the L.D. reference…I think I missed that one!!!! She’s such a wonder!!! So glad you stopped by!!!! Happy Spring!!!!! Hugs……………………………………..

  12. Looks great!! Love the baptist fan border!!! 🙂

    • treadlemusic says:

It was one of the most relaxing borders I’ve done…..simple but with huge impact!!! And it lends itself to blending with so many different patterns that would be used in the inner borders/quilt centers!!!!! It really was easy to work in the corners without major adjustments. This is going to be one of my “go to” patterns in the future for sure!!!!
