It’s what we do on a rainy Sunday afternoon……

We find a dry (hopefully warm) building where there’s some activity (not too much….) and “hang out”. Last Sunday was (sigh) another rain day and DS#2 was in his shop doin’ some painting. Yup, tractor wheel rims……..prom,quilt group 001

Last winter was spent totally rebuilding/restoring the tractor these belong to for a friend of his……………..prom,quilt group 005

Mostly he does bikes, like the one in the background of the photo below…………………….prom, quilt group 004

He’s just finished the “sheet metal” for his SIL’s bike……prom, quilt group 002 prom,quilt group 003

So, in “rural America, USA” on a rainy Sunday afternoon, when NASCAR has run the night before, we stand around, visit, with country music in the background, and watch paint dry!!!!!! Be still my heart!!!!!

Til next time……………………………….

    love it…..

What a sweet way to spend your time on a rainy day, the tractor looks beautiful, is it almost done?

    • treadlemusic says:

It really was completed a year ago and was in an implement/antique tractor parade last Sept. The owner decided that the wheels didn’t look as good as the chassis, etc, so had our son take care of it. Total rebuild: body and engine.

  4. Your son does beautiful work. Can I use that word “beautiful” in application to a refinished tractor? My hubby works on lots of old tractors, too, for customers in the NAPA automotive machine shop.

I can just picture your family in the shop on a rainy Sunday. What fun.

It truly is!!!! I love the “smells” of such places. Air brushing paint, gasoline/fuel, conversations echoing in the expanse. Love it better on a sunny warm day when the door can be open, though………

  5. Catching up on my reading this evening. Looks like a satisfying way to spend part of a day.

What a great job on that tractor – looks like it belongs in a museum. Please send unwanted rain this way; we currently are over 7″ behind for this year as we’ve had no rain. And the drought continues.

I (and everyone else!) have been watching the disparity in moisture between the Eastern half of the US and the Western. So hard to fathom, when we are, and will remain, at flood stage til next Wed/Thurs! I sure wish I could send some to ya!!!! Hugs…………………….

The smells, the music, the comfortable clothes, the job well done … sounds pretty perfect to me! and by the way, I went to my first race this past Saturday at the local track. Not NASCAR, but still. A true cultural experience!

    • treadlemusic says:

Hmmmmm, would you go back for another race?? Around here there are several tracks……I haven’t gone to any of them, though! When first married we were totally into drag racing and spent several nights each week at the drag strips in Minneapolis (where we lived at the time). Now, it’s motorcycles. Our son restores & paints cars, also. It was a great afternoon!!!!
