Springtime = Prom Season……..

And, those of you who have been following these ramblings for a while know that I have been called upon to do gown alterations for 1 or 2 of the local gals for various occasions. This year brought some lovely styles. To refresh your memory, here is the dress I modified this year……….prom,quilt group 024 and here it is on Katie last Saturday evening during the “Grande March” at our local high school (actually, this is the elementary school gym that is decorated for the dance and the high school gym will be the site of the “lock-in”/over night party that followed from midnight to 5 a.m.)……………….Houston prom & spring 013

Here are some more fun photos…………………………….Houston prom & spring 009 Houston prom & spring 011

Yes, that last gal is a blur. They were supposed to pause at the bottom of the stairs for photos, but………………

And, then we have an example of what’s great about small town schools. Not everyone who goes to the prom go as couples/guy & gal. Some go to have fun and go with their friends……….just so they all attend!!!!!!! There were some gals who went w/o escorts and then we have these guys………

There was hardly standing room for this event as Houston, as a community, turns out for everything that happens in Houston (MN) and that’s one of the things I love about this town!!!!!

Do you remember your “prom days”???? Has much changed in your town????

    Rosemary B here:
    Oh my these photos are wonderful. What a superb community. I would love to live there.
    I live in Loudoun County Virginia and it is beautiful here with the Blue Ridge Mountains, and still a lot of open space and small farms…. but. We are in Northern Virginia and experiencing the urban sprawl like nobody’s business. Actually we have a lot of business out there now.
    We are 40 miles west of the Cesspool (DC) and there are large tech companies here and other companies that do business with the US Government.
    We have nice wonderful people here but most of them are in a hurry
    All of that being said, I myself am not from anywhere as my parents are from Holland, Netherlands and came here after the war. Then my dad took a job with GAO and later State Dept.

    I am quite envious of your lifestyle, and the uncomplicated environment.
    Have a wonderful day today. I love these pictures very much. all of these couples are so lovely.

      Thank you so much for sharing. One can forget how the “metro” areas of our nation are grabbing rural acreage. We are too far from St.Paul/Minneapolis to be affected and our topography is extremely rugged/ridge-filled. City folks (from La Crosse) are building here and there but not a lot!!!! After traveling through the D.C. area last Fall, I know that high density population areas are definitely not for me!!!!!! Hugs………………..

  2. What a beautiful variety of dresses. Those couples look sooooo young. But then again they are.

    Yesterday, my mom, who recently moved into a nursing home, was telling me how some of the aides who work there arrived in their prom dresses on Saturday to show residents. Mom was so happy. And I was beyond impressed with these young women who would take time to do this. Remarkable.
