“Shot Quilt” Done!!!!!!

Yup. Completed. Perhaps you remember it better with the name “Rob’s Quilt” (see here). The finished size is 63”x74”……a larger lap size. Some photos to tell the story…………………………………………Rob's quilt and Grad. ceremony 010

The ‘burlap’ print fabric, used for the binding and 2 sashing strips, is “Bella Verona” by Wing and a Prayer Design for Timeless Treasures Fabrics.

The label is as unobtrusive as I could make it so that the quilt would be a bit more reversible.

The thread used was Connecting Threads Essential Pro poly, 70 wt, in Turkey Red……both top thread and bobbin. Worked very well. Batting was my Hobbs 80/20 fave that I use 99% of the time. Quilts/handles beautifully and washes with just the right amount of shrinkage for that soft crinkly feel we all love.

Til next time…………………………………

  2. Teje says:

Hi Doreen! This is fantastic and unique quilt! Great design and you have thought so well all the details! Also the quilting is perfect for this! Hugs! x Teje

    • treadlemusic says:

Ooooooo…..hello!!!! I’ve been missin’ you!!! thanks so much for stopping by and your wonderfully kind comment! It was really a fun different challenge and I do like the end result, too! Hugs to you, my Mediterranean Friend!!!!

  3. Beth Ann says:

Amazing! The quilting is so fitting for the “subject matter” of the quilt like Teje said above!!! Love it. You are so talented and gifted and I am so blessed to have some of your handiwork in my home!!!!

I am a bit overwhelmed with your assessment of this one……..I do so appreciate your faithful visits and encouraging words. I am so happy you are still enjoying that beautiful red/white quilt! Hugs………………………

    Well done, Doreen

  5. Thread crazy says:

Great job Doreen – I love the design you came up with and perfect for the quilt. I need to try some of the connecting threads one of these days soon. Love your quilting.

    • treadlemusic says:

I tried to come up with a stitching that would reflect the “explosion” feel of gun powder (w/o having to break thread between designs). I think it works, too. I’m so glad you stopped by!!! Hugs……………….

  6. Jeanne says:

He is going to LOVE it! So neat and unique! Great job!!!

  7. ivoryspring says:

Beautiful! How do you like quilting with poly threads?

    • treadlemusic says:

Thank you!!! The poly threads are loved by both me and my machines. The lint factor is almost nonexistent!!! The 70 wt (Connecting Threads) is wonderful and allows the bobbin to hold so much resulting in fewer bobbin changes and less need to oil (do to excessive lint build-up).

  8. I bet Rob will be pleased. So pleased. Another quilt that will hold so much meaning for its “owner.”

  9. I am amazed… your ability, and talent in design is wonderful 🙂 Smiles……………..

    • treadlemusic says:

Thanks so much, Debby, and coming from an amazingly creative “upcycler”, those words have even more meaning!!!! Hugs………………………

      • has it dried out enough for camping and riding? Happy early Father’s Day as I am guessing there will be activities going on in your neighborhood.

        • treadlemusic says:

Yes to the activities, some riding (yippee!) and I think the camper will find its river side home for the summer very soon!!!! Hugs and thanks (passed along to the appropriate person!) for the Father’s Day wishes!!!! Hugs…………..

  10. Looks wonderful!! Love the design! 🙂

It is amazing the things you can do with shot bags. He will love it I am sure. There will never be another one like it. You have done a truly wonderful job on the FMQ and the whole design. Well done. 🙂
