A very nice shop………………..

While visiting my brother/SIL’s lake home, this past week, the 4 of us investigated the nearby town of Rice Lake, WI, and the Busy Bobbin Quilt Shop. Luck,WI, & McTavish book 001  Please, notice the appropriate “husband chairs”!!!!

So nice and brightly lit and wonderfully stocked! Becky (not the owner) met us at the door and cheerfully answered our somewhat “blank” and obviously “we’re first timers here” looks as we entered.

Proceeding through each room…..please, come along……….Luck,WI, & McTavish book 004                                                                                   The samples were in every nook and cranny!!! Love it!!!!

Luck,WI, & McTavish book 012   This last photo is of the basement area which housed some really great bargain/sale fabrics!!! Awesome. After the cutting and bagging ( SIL picked out some fab prints for summer dresses…..designated for 4 of her 13, soon to be 14, grands and I found some pillowcase fabric…perfect!), we headed to lunch.Luck,WI, & McTavish book 013

While waiting in those comfy chairs, the guys came up with this spot…….http://norskenook.com/. This place is awesome!!! There is another location in Osseo, WI, that we had been to before. Known for their better-than-home-cooking and their pies!!!! Luck,WI, & McTavish book 015   A cut from the brisket Reuben sandwich made with craisin/wild rice bread (made there, of course!) and beer battered French fries……………….really????? Yup!!!!!!   AND the dessert……………their famous fresh strawberry pie served with free ice cream……..because June is dairy month!!!!!! Luck,WI, & McTavish book 016 Luck,WI, & McTavish book 017 No, those really aren’t 2 pieces of pie……….The first photo is my 1/2 and the second is DHs 1/2 (with the ice cream). He had already “inhaled” a portion of his!!!!

Back home, I quickly put together the pillowcases that were in the bag in their “pre-birth” forms…….hehe.

Pillowcases 004   The fabrics were from Granny’s Nine by Darlene Zimmerman for Chanteclaire (the plaid) and Pash by Chez Moi for Moda (swirly band). The narrow piece is from a Basic Grey.

Arriving home, we hit the ground running. The camper is now at the river campsite. The water is below our site but still high. Off to spend our first overnight of the season!!! Quilt group shop hop on Monday, and meetings the rest of the week. Whew!!!! The retirement ‘thing’ is exhausting!!! LOL!

Til next time…………………………

I love this shop, I want to go there now.
And that yummy treat, and the yummy food. Oh my.
We have a quilt shop in Purcellville Virginia called WebFabrics
Carly has comfy chairs for the men, and a special bathroom for them too with magazines
She also has an iPad for them to use, and internets for them to puruse
What ever makes them happy, and keeps them busy — and I mean busy!
I love all of these photos and the bed is beautiful now!

Wow! What a shop!!! Brilliant……keep the men busy/happy and the gals will comfortably stay longer!!!! (Although, I really don’t feel rushed ever!!!!). Sounds wonderful! I’m glad you enjoyed the “tour”. That restaurant is “dangerous”……the pies are so excellent!

  5. What a great get-away, quilt shop, and eatery. And the chairs for the guys are perfect.

The sort of quilt shop dreams are made from. It looks wonderful. Good luck with the water on the campsite. I hope it continues to recede.

The water levels are going down but will elevate again by next weekend……buckets of rain up north!! I don’t expect it will affect our site, though. Sigh………yes, that shop was a VERY nice one!!!!!

Cute shop. I love all the samples. See you Monday morning.

  10. What a fabulous quilt shop!! The new pillow cases look great, especially with the quilt on the bed. Have a great time at your camp site – just a tad envious!!

    • treadlemusic says:

Just home from the camper. Storm/high winds last night but gorgeous today. So relaxing. Water is still too high for the campers across the lane from us so the views of the river are quite nice (although a bit close!!). Will do a photo post of our site soon!!

Busy Bobbin has moved since I was last there! It seems to be much larger – can’t wait to stop back! Glad you didn’t miss the Norsk Nook nor the pie! Rice Lake is about 20 minutes from my family’s cabins.

    • treadlemusic says:

Really?? Have you been to the awesome meat market in Cumberland named Louie’s (not sure of the spelling). Amazing meats and sausages/brats!! The quilt shop was very very nice! Left a ton of fabrics for you on your next trip that direction!! LOL!

      • Jeanne says:

Oh yes, we’ve been to Louie’s – every time we go to the cabins! Haven’t been that way in four years – hoping to head back this summer. If you want to go a little further north, there was a great quilt shop in Siren. Our cabins are in Shell Lake so I’ve spent time in that area my whole life. Thanks for leaving fabric for me!!!

  12. We’ve been there! PIE!! 😀
