Friday Finishes………..

And ready for pin-basting. This week has been a busy one but the two red & white “Disappearing Pinwheel” versions 3&4 are pieced, borders on, backings prepped/pieced and bindings readied. I would label that a “Friday Finish”…..wouldn’t you??? My posts, of the previous few days, has culminated in these………002

The above is version #3: a pinwheel, “Friendship Star” and “Illinois (Cross—my addition!) Road”

This is version #4: a pinwheel, “Friendship Star” with the added ‘blades’ to form a “Whirligig”.

Both present some interesting quilting possibilities. They will be used in a FMQ demo my guild (Spring Grove, MN) will be sponsoring during an Oct. 3 & 4 event called Festival of Quilts. Lots of vendors, display quilts, quilts for sale (along with baked goods—of course!—), a boutique and a special speaker, Sherri K. Falls, on Saturday afternoon at 1:30.

It will be a few days till I get back to these, so they will quietly(?) wait……..

The next couple of days are very busy family days, followed by a “blogging vaca”…………My shadowy presence may be apparent one or two times but I’m not sure. Off to hike the trails of the Northern Hills (SD).

Until next time, I thank you all…..so many times over!… for your friendship, inspiration, advice, critique and encouragement! You are all such a blessing to me!!! Hugs…..

    Oh Doreen, this is great
I just spent the last hour and a half fiddling with seams, getting the points perfect… finally did, started ironing and it looked odd….. oh my. sewed it upside down grrrrr drats lol
I love the result of this creation

As much as I love these clever methods….I would hesitate to recommend them to some as those bias edges absolutely must have special treatment or the whole quilt will be wonky and impossible to put borders on and quilt. I sure can totally feel your pain at the mis-sewn pieces!! I do that at least once every project or two—-a “given”!!!!

  2. Enjoy your tripping around!
