Once again, the group’s gathering in Spring Grove (MN) produced so much creativity. The doors were open at 8:30 a.m. and those who wanted to sew brought their projects for QOV (Quilts of Valor) quilts. A couple of ‘shares’ from that time…………019_thumb[6]

Ruth (above) got these 3 blocks completed. This is going to be one gorgeous quilt that will be a treasure for some returning military person.

Janice (2nd from the left below) is always coming up with beautiful blocks made using the “Squedge” ruler. All these blocks were completed during this morning time…………………….005_thumb[8]

On to the sharing time…………………………001_thumb[7]

(Above), Yvonne belongs to an antique car group that has been touring around one of the Great Lakes each summer. There is one gentleman who makes all the arrangements for the group, planning the meal & motel stops, etc, and she made this quilt for him as a “thank you” acknowledgement of all his dedication to the group. Wow!!! And, yes, she machine quilted it herself…..yay!!!! She is one clever talented lady!!!!!! A close-up of a center detail………………………………002_thumb[11]    Note the cute quote!

006_thumb[18]Pam made this cute bag as part of a challenge…..poor photo….sorry!

Margaret has made many quilts over the years. They have been hand pieced and hand quilted and astonishing! She brought a few that she is selling at our upcoming Festival of Quilts (Oct. 3 & 4). They are made with feed sack fabrics that she has acquired and even brought a basket of large pieces that she made available to the group!!! 008   And a close-up of the quilt………….009

012013  Margaret is showing how all the background  fabric is actually bleached feed sacks!!! How many times did it take to get all the printing off!!!!!!!?

014  A lovely Chinese pattern quilt with beautiful machine quilting. It was a bit hard to get good photos of the stitching but you can ‘click’ on any photo to enlarge it.015The back. 016

017A while back Ruth had asked us for a paper pieced cup block and she is still getting some. So unique!!!!

020                            A cute felt piece/penny rug.

022   This is one of the latest patterns from the Missouri Quilt Co. called “Disappearing Hour Glass”. So neat!!!!!! Carol is already busily cutting for a QOV version of this!!!! And, oh yes, she quilts her own on her Horizon!!!!!

023  We’re still collecting for the “Lottery Block” give-away and these are Kathy’s donation. A better view below……..024

That about takes care of this month’s meeting. Til next time………happy sewing!!!!!

Stunning quilts as always. I love looking at the things other people make. Thank you so much for sharing your quilt groups work. How proud some of those ladies must be. 🙂

Margaret’s “feed sack” quilts ‘stole the show’ (from the comments from the gals!)! She has made so many and has decided to sell a few…….wow! I can’t imagine such!!!!

Thank you for your sweet visit! The gals, once again, have created so many lovelies, haven’t they? Cooler weather (and much cooler nights) are here signalling the fast approach of the next season…….”quilting season”!!! Yay!!! Summer went by a tad faster than usual for all (so the talk goes). Uber hugs comin’ at ya………………………

  5. I went and looked at the quilts for sale at your festival – there are so many lovely ones! I really love the feed sack ones that Margaret made.

I will have to ask her what the $$$ amounts will be. I know she hadn’t a clue as to what she should charge. She belongs to the smaller, local group of mine, too, and I’ll see her next Monday eve (the meeting is at her home!!!).

Absolutely lovely! one of these days I need to join a guild… It’s one of the things I’m saving for retirement

    • treadlemusic says:

I have belonged to a small, local informal group for many years (while working) but being in a larger more diverse group is definitely a nice change. The time “requirement” is definitely a more ‘retirement’ thing….you’re right. I am doing all the things I had in my mind when working. Someday you’ll have the opportunity……….hugs………….

      • Hugs right back to you! I’m thinking for myself I’d much rather a smaller group would be the best place to start. From what I hear the guild here is HUGE!!!

        • treadlemusic says:

‘Guilds’ do have a tendency to have the higher numbers. My smaller group is one that started from a Community Education/quilting class whose attendees decided to start meeting monthly….we were having so much fun. This was 30+ yrs. ago!!!! We picked the 4th Mon. eve of the month. Dessert and visiting about quilting & misc. stuff. All needlework is welcome but the focus is still quilting. Some bring things to share or demo a new idea. Much more intimate. I like the “pluses” of each.

  7. Those last two lottery blocks are stunning and so fallish. Perfect for the season. But must add that I am impressed by everything I see here. Such incredible talent.

    Awesome!!! Blessings Always, Mtetar

My, goodness you are one busy lady, Doreen! How did you have time for a job and all your wonderful hobbies?

    • treadlemusic says:

I really do feel like the Energizer Bunny!! My days of working had tons of moments of “when I retire/have the time” thoughts. Although I have always been a busy person, this is crazy fun!!!!!!

What beautiful quilts – as usual your quilt group does beautiful work. Margaret’s hand-;pieced quilt is breathtaking. I applaud any one who does all their work by hand. I learned to quilt by hand and still do some, but for me I prefer to use my DSM…just a wee bit faster! Thanks Doreen for sharing and welcome back again! Missed ya!
