Bonus Feather!!! The Formal Feather..

Lisa’s “Bonus Feather” is the one that has “rocked my world”!!!! It is the style of Ivory Spring/Wendy Sheppard (who was my primary influence and was the subject of my post last Saturday–). I must say, again, since each of us have brains that are ‘wired’ differently, one of these techniques will be easier (or will ‘click’) for you than another. You will only discover the truth of this after times of………wait for it…..yup!….practice, practice, practice!!! I know this mantra may be getting old and a titch on your nerves possibly, but anything worthwhile is achieved through a pattern of repetition…..and I know you know that in your heart of hearts, dear Friends.
So let’s start our week flying high with this last feather tutorial!!!! Til tomorrow and the ———-yes!!!!——–Reveal!!!!

I totally agree with you about “practice, practice, practice!” … part of me thinks that in our “instant gratification society” that many have forgotten this. In my opinion, that’s why we’ve seen the evolution of the stitch regulator! So, keep on repeating the mantra on your blog! You are right!!!!

I have decided to have my current “warm up” piece be a sampler. I started the Mystery QAL at http://theinboxjaunt.com/the-mystery-qal/
We were to use a different thread in each rectangle using the motif of a spool. I decided to “break the rules” and use a different Lori Kennedy motif in each rectangle, I am having fun changing them up a little and making them my own.

After my sampler, the plan is FM feathers practice. You are also right about how we all learn differently. I can FMQ on a marked line, however it is hard for me to “just go for it” and not think I will mess things up. (The videos by Lisa on a DSM were good for me as I watched her learning curve.)For me, it is letting go of the perfectionism in my head and the comfort of the line!.

You “nailed it” with your assessment of our current mindset (we want ‘perfection’/achievement/skill and we want it NOW!!!!). I’ve kinda bypassed Lori’s QAL (too many clients’ quilts at the moment!) but will check out the current happenings. Your thread/motif ideas are great!!!!! “Make it your own” is my approach, too. I rely (most times) on a lightly marked spine for direction, also. It’s just the way some of our brain cells work!!! LOL!!!! I so appreciate you taking the time to leave such a wonderfully insightful comment!!!!! Please, come again for a visit!!! Hugs……..
