I wasn’t sure it would happen but it did! The “Quilt of Honor” is now complete right down to the appropriate label….yay!!!! This quilt has a story. It’s beginnings was in a small Arkansas town and a gal who has become a dear bloggy friend (someday there WILL BE a meet-up!). In exchange for an incredibly beautiful winter yarn cowl she made me, I said I would quilt the piecing she was working on. She is not a quilter but a fantastically talented “repurpose-er”. Using yardage that she had gotten from deconstructing thrift shop finds, she snipped, cut, sewed and pieced with these results……………… The photo she posted late last fall was of a quilt top too large to fit on anything but the hood/roof of her pick-up (yes, Debbie, I “pirated” this from your Fb site!!!! hehehe…). She hadn’t gotten the final border on yet. And now it looks like this…………………………
And the back…………………..
The little journal , she covered with some of the quilt fabric, chronicles some of her thoughts and well wishes for the recipient.
Thread: Superior Metallics Variegated Gold, #25 (40 wt) and Connecting Threads Essential Pro poly, (70 wt) in the bobbin.
One cannot help but feel the love that has gone into the making of this quilt and God has chosen that special person to receive it. We must just wait to see who it is!
Have an awesome weekend! It is a busy one in our little town cuz it’s “Hoedown”!!!!!!! Til next we meet………….Hugs…..
That is a wonderful quilt; I especially love the quilts that have stories that are told (instead of just making us wonder).
And that is exactly why that letter that was to be included with the quilt is so important. Every quilt tells a story of some sort, if one just takes a moment to think about it!!!!! Thanks so much for stopping by!!!! Hugs………………..
What a great story. And I love the bartering.
And Debbie did it so well!!!!
What an amazing quilt and to know that “repurposed” fabric along with some talented fingers, produced such a pice of work. Your beautiful quilting simply brought it to life. .Yes, whomever receives this quilt will truly be blessed.
Especially when she isn’t a quilter BUT a very gifted gal who seems to be able to do anything she attempts!!!!! She is amazing!!!!!
Loved the quilt and the story behind it. As “Jennifer Lopez” says the quilting literally gave me the goosies.
LOL!!!!!! Thanks!!! I’m so happy you “popped” by!!! Hugs………………
Awesome quilt especially with the background info. So glad to know the story. I love the quilting too! It will certainly make the day for the recipient. The story being shared is frosting on the cake. Thanks!
Precisely!!!!!! Hugs…………………..
It’s always great to hear the stories behind the quilts – this quilt and its story are just fabulous. What a great team you and Debbie are!
I hadn’t thought of it that way but you are right! Thanks for your kind words. 😊
For someone who’s “not a quilter,” she did some pretty complicated piecing on that top–very attractive! And, of course, the quilting looks fabulous, too!
Thanks for your kind quilty words and, yes, those are my thoughts about this quilt….exactly!!!!!!!
