So. Dak……From “fear” to FANTASTIC…………………

When last we visited, I shared that I managed to conquer(?) a rugged climb (here) that filled most of my/our Friday. Now, let’s radically change gears and get to THE reason for the timing of our trek this direction……….

The weather was perfect and the town was ‘hopping’ with visitors of all sorts. Some quilters had chosen to hang a quilt out doors!!!

This is a gentle warning that my next few posts are quilts, quilts, quilts. Full ‘shots’, close-ups and details. When I downloaded the day’s shoot, the total was 257 photos!!!! I will spare you the complete number but will share many, with documentation, that, I hope, will inspire you for future projects.

The quilts were very well organized/categorized so that we could pick our faves in each of many categories. Our ballot was easily marked and everyone in attendance (men and gals) were very focused on noting their choices. I haven’t really seen such “Public Choice” voting embraced with such enthusiasm before!!

There are so many more displays I want to share……..but that’s for another time. Tom/DH stuck with me, attentively marking his ballot, for the whole walk through. When we were talking afterward, he shared that his “eaves-dropping” on nearby conversations reinforced the fact that he was an informed/knowledgeable quilt observer with opinions that were based on very solid information/learning on the subject of quilting. Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I wonder where he learned???!!!!)

Note: Any of the above photos above may be enlarged by placing your curser over them and left clicking.

Now, back to the Packer/Bears football game…………… (more quilt photos to follow in the future………)

Doreen…….. So glad you switched to flat, quilted space instead of that vertical stuff!!!  Looks like an awesome show!!!  Tom is indeed full of knowledge about the quilt world…..he could be an uncover quilt?????  don’t know what you would call a person like that. Will be leaving tomorrow at 5:30.  No more remarks from me because of the Canadian rates for technology. What a lovely time of year for a quilt show! I can clearly see why you and DH were both thrilled to be there. Yes, I know DH has been well “learned” on quilts, or at least he should be. Love that last quilt, the pink and blue; lovely prints. Looking forward to more…

Are you sure Tom is not a closet Quilter? 😉 Such a wonderful array of quilts. I especially like the colours in the ‘pinwheel’ rainbow quilt. The oranges and reds really pop. However there is such a selections of styles, not to mention inspiration, choosing a favourite would be difficult. Seems like the whole town got behind the quilt show. Look forward to seeing some more and finding out who were the public choice winners,
Enjoy your new quilt group on Saturday.

Keep the photos coming, Doreen! It looks like it was an amazing show. And you’re off to Texas ALREADY? Have you even put the camper away for the season yet? Mr. W was ‘schmoosin’ some women at the last quilt show I went to (I left him unattended in the coffee area when I went back for a second look) – he was telling them all about his finger pressing and paper pulling techniques. I’m still laughing about it!

Beautiful, beautiful!!! The ladies here in our community are trying to recruit me for their quilt club. I told them I might come to just admire but was not quite ready to lift the needle yet. 🙂

  7. What a fun time! There were some gorgeous quilts! So glad Tom has learned a little about quilting!!! I have a friend who’s husband judges quilt shops on whether or not they carry Moda fabrics. When he enters, he asks about Moda. If they have it, he finds a comfortable seat; if not, he patiently waits by the door.

  8. You must have been like a kid in a candy store at this quilt show. Wow. What talent and variety. And I absolutely love Tom’s attitude.

  9. SO good to visit with you today. I see what you mean about the show and all those quilts. What a great setting for a show.
