A challenge presented; a challenge met…………….

A few weeks ago, a quilty friend and I traveled down the highway to Prairie du Chien (WI) to The Picket Fence quilt shop for a Sunday afternoon event they call a “Peek over the Picket Fence”. 47 ladies enjoyed a time of viewing the upcoming new patterns, fabrics, what’s “hot”, block of the month and project of the month for this coming year……all presented in completed quilts, etc, that were breathtaking!!!!!! And then…on to the lower classroom level for homemade pie, ice cream, coffee or lemonade. There were more than a dozen different pie choices all made by one of the gals who works there!!! Amazing.

Each one attending was given a little pattern, “Cheep Talk”, with the challenge to ‘make it your own’ but it must include the 2 birds and the tree. Here’s my version…………….

The completion deadline is Sept. 30 and the finished wall quilts will be on display at the shop during the first week in October, when viewers may cast a vote for their favorite one. Gift certificates of $50, $25 and $15 will be given to the top three vote-getters.

I’ll let you know how this all turns out in a couple of weeks………………….

Oct. 1 the various little quilts go up at the Prairie du Chien shop and I hope to get down there sometime in the following week to view them all!!!! The trek is almost 80 miles so it’s not exactly “right around the corner”, unfortunately!!!!!!

  3. That is adorable! It is definitely yours and the quilting is fantastic too.

  4. KerryCan says:

It’s all yours, for sure–that quilting is amazing! Good luck with the competition–I know who would get my vote!

I’ll be delivering it to the shop today. We’ll wait and see what the others did with their ideas. I live in an area where this style of quilting is not seen much……blogging/internet quilting, etc is really not explored!!!!!!!

It is really nice. Blessings as always, Mtetar

Yeah! You certainly did make it your own. It is fabulous.
I am just about to go on holiday for 15 days so no quilting for me. It will be knitting, as it is more portable. LOL.
