To be “blown away” by some of the sharing that took place last eve during my local quilt gathering. First off………Joan, and hubby, are always on the look-out for vintage quilts. Whether at auctions, thrift stores or tag/garage sales, they manage to rescue/adopt treasures that amaze!!!! She shared this latest find that her hubby picked up (at a nearby Salvation Army store) for……. are you ready for it???…….UNDER $8!!!!!!!! Yes!!!!!!
There was one applique that was coming loose a tad but……it was beautiful!!!!!!
Joan is seen standing (above) top left.
We “oohed” and “ahhed” over this one for quite a while!!! No surprise, hmmmm?
Sheri (whose home we met at) shared this table topper……so simple but typifying the season that’s upon us!!!!!!
Anita shared this wonderful tote made with one of the ‘license plates’ that was available during this past summer’s national shop hop. Now, there is much significance to this one as she lives in an area known as Looney Valley (named after an early settler)! ‘Nuff said!!!! LOL!
Ginny is always putting together cute things from her stash and challenging herself with such things as scalloped edges. Beautiful finish!!! She, also, has a grandson that just “needs” a special quilt, so a jeans/rag quilt was just the ticket…..but talk about heavy!!!!!! He’ll need muscles to move at all under it!!!!!!
She had saved/applied the jeans’ tags in various spots. A nice touch!!! The backing was a perfect finish for this young man’s gift
Our friend, Ellen, has recently rejoined our group after a somewhat lengthy absence. She is multi-talented and pursued carving, putting quilting aside (can’t do it all!!!). Here are some of her carvings (from basswood)…………..
This one is her first, back in the early 90’s and is really quite small.
And my favorite (hers, also), a praying Santa………….
She brought a box of large hexie flowers that she had been given and we decided to do a drawing for them at our December gathering…………….
Ever busy Twyla had much to show and here are a couple things……….
Our resident teacher is still going strong, though school’s back in session.
She, also, brought another top with her questions on piecing the backing. Let the quilting begin!!!!!!!!……………….
I shared my QOV (posted here). Another inspiration filled evening!!!!!
Til next time……….let’s go quilt!!!!!!
Thanks for sharing. Looks like a group of talent.
Talent AND enthusiasm+great friendships!!!!!!
As you said, your group continues to amaze us. Beautiful and love the Salvation Army find….beautiful. oh and the wood carvings…what a talented lady. Love them all but the praying Santa is precious.
I love these show-and-tell posts. Such incredible work by the artists, this time including woodcarving. Thank you for showcasing all of this art.
You are so very welcome!!!!!!
As usual…. blown away here. Such talented and creative people!!!
Thank you, Kathy…………………
That Loony Quilter bag got me laughing! Looks like a fun night!
If you only knew!!!!! I think we laughed more than any other time!!!!!!!
The Loony Quilter bag made me laugh too. I also thought the carvings by Ellen are amazing. Like you I think the praying Santa is fabulous. Your show and tell pictures are always full of wonderful quilts and many different ideas.
They really are inspiring, hmm? Ellen belonged to our little group many years ago and just returned. Her sharing was the result of the newer members, who hadn’t known her, asked about her carvings. A very gifted lady!!!!!
