It’s what happened today……….

Today was quilt guild day in Spring Grove (MN) and, after welcoming several new members and a short business recap, sharing time gave an account of what the members have been up to in the last month………

IMG_4350

First up was (new member) Carol and her quilt made with ice-dyed fabric. She quickly gave an explanation of the process to the group (most, of whom, were unfamiliar with the term/process). Next, was her “Row Along” quilt…………….which resulted in her winning some substantial fabric  bundles (she was the first one, at one quilt shop, to have a quilt finished with 7 shops visited and using their shop “Row Along” patterns)………

Back……………IMG_4352

These next 2 photos are of Doris’ art. She breaks….yes, breaks!…..dishes, glues them to up-cycled furniture and then applies grout.

Once again, Yvonne was busy creating her original QOV designs for our local WWII veterans. So gorgeous……and she refuses(LOL) to write any of the patterns down to share!!!!!!! She says they just come out of her head!!!!!!! Sigh………………..

Maxine shared the very first quilt she made….for her daughter who had joined the military 16 days before 9/11! A front view of the quilt (with Maxine on the left)…………………………

And a peek at the back…..yes! the back………….IMG_4358

The city-scape strips are of Washington, DC, and NYC!!!!!!! Very moving!!!!!

Another of Maxine’s………………………….IMG_4360

And the backing fabric…………………

Next, clever use of panels………….

Barb is always the busy one!!!!!!!

And for her granddaughter, a Halloween costume (modeled by our very own Yvonne!)…………..

IMG_4368

There was fabric enough left that the little gal’s American Girl doll and her girlfriend’s doll got identical outfits…..sorry, no pic!!!!!

IMG_4369  A beautifully made QOV quilt (for the Iowa state group) that was returned to Barb’s local group cuz it too closely resembled a “coffin quilt”! I believe large gold stars will be appliqued to the top star field and will, hopefully, be acceptable! And, below, a “Carpenter’s Star” quilt…………

Janene’s “Apple Core” quilt.

And lastly, Mary’s finishes…..a wool piece and a small quilt for the Rochester Ronald McDonald House………

That’s it for this group’s creativity for the month!

The days are growing shorter!!!!! Soon, some of us will be turning our clocks back for “Standard Time”…..a true sign the seasons have changed and the holidays are rapidly approaching!!! Til next time………..

Thanks for the reminder of turning back the clocks! Yikes, I had almost forgotten. By tge way, beautiful quilts as always. Sometimes I think your guild must sew nonstop. Great group of ladies to share time with…thanks for sharing with us.
