“Disappearing Hour Glass”, as shown by Jenny Doan from Missouri Star Quilt Company (video tutorial). I used half of a pack of 10” squares, “Quilters’ Candy”, from Connecting Threads to make 20 blocks. That does allow enough squares left over to do another quilt. I really didn’t want a super large finish to this one. The other fabric is unbleached muslin that I cut into 10” blocks for the solid.

Such a great block – and technique – looking forward to seeing how you finish it 🙂 I’ve spent a lovely time back-reading, wow you’ve had an inspiring and busy time lately. Lucky you spending time with both Wendy and Judy! Hope you and DH enjoy your time out on the road with the new ride!
Love, love, love this block! Can’t wait to see your finished quilt with the borders. It’s hard to believe that December will be here before we know it!
Where did the year go??!!!! And I thought I would be so ahead of the game for Christmas and I’ve done nothing!! Still have several make-it projects for a client to do…fun but not for me!!!! This may be a money year (I hate that!!!!!!).
I may have time today to add a border or two if we return from St Paul early enough and I have enough motivation!!!! LOL!!!!!
So pretty!
The center is now together. 2 borders are planned….a narrower muslin then a wider batik…..not sure what the color of that one will be, but I have to decide soon so I can get this together and quilted in the next week!!!!! It’s going to our little So. TX winter spot when we go, the end of December!!!!! Yikes!!!!!!
Lovely, lovely, lovely!
Hugs
As I said before I really like that block. I’ve a layer cake of “1862 Battle Hymn” by Barbara Brackman for Moda. I have been saving it and keep changing my mind on its use. With a deep fawn colour I think this block could be the one I have been looking for. However there are quite a few ahead of it in the queue. Next year perhaps! 😉
I saw the email..haven’t had time to read though them all. Looks good and I’m going to try that one. Are they coming out 10″ squares?
They come out to 11.5″. Jenny Doan’s tute has the “hour glass” block at 12.75″ (that is divided by 3 for the 2nd cuts, so it becomes an even number). At that “hour glass” block, I squared my block to 12.5″ cuz I was a tad small on a few of my block measurements. Does that make sense?? My final assembly seams cut off some of the points on a few blocks but I can live with that!!!!!!
Your creativity in your big (right) brain produces such wonderful results.
😍
whoo…hoo…. Love the look! Anxious to see the final result!!
Me, too!!!!! LOL!!!!! At the moment there are a ton of ideas floating in my little (right) brain!!! LOL!!!
Wooo this looks great Doreen!!
I think it is turning out, too! I’m looking forward to trying some different quilting on it!!! Stay tuned…………LOL!!!!!
