The next step………………..

Involves a bit more doodling to come up with a stitching design for the batik fabrics in my “Seeing Starz” quilt. The leafy feathers were so much fun, and very much “in my comfort zone” (love all kinds of feathers!!!!) but, I decided, I needed some type of contrast motif. Something that was the opposite of the flowing, organic leaf and maybe carrying through on the ‘star’ idea. My thoughts: star shine, rays, light. Hmmmmmmm……..but how? Back to the photo and some more doodling…. and…..wha-la……….I think I’ve got an idea!!!!

This is definitely going to be ruler work!!!!! Grabbing my trusty “Line Tamer” ruler (awesome……..if you have a sit-down machine…..THIS is the ruler for you!!!!!!), I began stitching this idea (no marking necessary for this one either!!!!)……..

Since this is going to be a quilt that’s used and I want it to be soft, not “card-boardy”, I won’t do any more stitching in this last design (no fill between the angular band areas). I think if it were to be possibly hung for display or a show entry I would add pebbles or some other type of fill. Nope.

Two borders left and binding. Should be able to finish this one this week (I think!).

to be continued……………………………….

I like the latest design on this quilt. Using a ruler is something I have not had much experience with, however you have given me a little push in that direction. Thank you.
