Border, that is. Got the borders SID (Stitch in the Ditch)/stabilized and decided on a design for the narrower white border. In order to stitch it, I needed to grab another handy gadget….my Handi Quilter “Versa Tool”.
With a few marked dots for reference points, it was full steam ahead!!!! The results are quite acceptable…..yup, I like it.
A couple of backing views….
And this is really close to a finish………….. ummmm, need some “dreamin’ time” to figure out the outer border motif!!!!!

is that a Hunter’s Star design with you amazing quilting?
Actually, it’s a pattern from the Missouri Star Quilt Co. and here’s the video tutorial. Really easy. I used a layer cake batik set and cut my background squares from muslin. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXggafOP230 It’s really an easy pattern but attention must be given to the bias outer edges that result from this process. Goes together like a dream!!!!!!
Thank you for the link. I missed that one from Jenny. I usually watch all the videos she does. The only ones I don’t watch are the ones with Rob. Although he has some great ideas I just can’t listen to him. Why did I think that was a Hunter’s Star? Must be going potty in my dotage. I have just the layer cake “1862 Battle Hymn” by Barbara Brackman. I have been sitting on this layer cake for ages and ages because I just couldn’t decide what to do with it and now I have the perfect design. Thank you so much Doreen. It will be a while before I get to it but at least I know exactly what it will be used for. 🙂
Ummmm, agree with your “Rob” assessment. No, you don’t have a “dotage” problem!!! The reason I liked this pattern is cuz it IS reminiscent of the Hunter’s Star pattern!!!!!! (“Great minds……..” and all that!!). The next one I would like to make (yes, another of this pattern!), I’m going to use a colored solid for the background. I think it would be awesome, too!!!!!
Stunning!
Thank you, my friend. I have really grown to like it more as I’ve worked on it!
Beautiful, can not wait to see this quilt.
Hope to finish the 2nd border today. Will bring it along (unfinished) tomorrow!
It looks great! I love my versa-tool as well but need to get more creative with it!
I will have to say, I’ve used it primarily for the straight edge. It is just the perfect size!!!!!
Gorgeous!!! I like my versa tool
Thanks so much! It truly is, as the name suggests, a Versa(tile) tool!!! LOL!!!!!
Looks wonderful Doreen…I’m at a dreaming point of. My quilting! Hmm..maybe tomorrow I’ll have an inspiration.
Keep dreamin’ and then just jump in!!!!
I always love your quilting… just love how you filled in the gaps and spaces in that quilt. I got that little tool but a bit lost what to do with it…. so pleased to see an idea on here…
Hugz
I really like it cuz it seems to be easy to handle. So many of the rulers seem to work better if your hands are a bit larger than mine are.
