Back to “Vintage”……………

With a piece I picked up recently in an Indiana antique shop. A lovely little piece…….about the diameter of a dinner plate/11” in dia……….that seemed to be in need of a “make-over” and calling out to me!

I marked a heart in the center and the rest, well, just happened!!! Raiding my stash yielded a nice pink-ish solid to put under the piece and a floral that would be perfect for backing and bias binding. Of course there’s always feathers!!!

A tad closer view……

Thread: (top and bobbin) Connecting Threads Essential Pro poly (70 wt). Batting: Hobbs Heirloom cotton (80/20)….single layer. This one was stitched on Ms Sweetie instead of my Juki (just for variety, I guess!). I do prefer one of my DSM when doing vintage.

One last shot……………

Wow, this turned out really sweet.

And the amazing part…..it took far longer to cut and apply the bias binding than it took to do the layering/stitching. Went so smoothly!!!! Of course after the large lap quilt, this little thing was a breeze!! LOL!!!!!

Very pretty. You are quite into rescuing vintage items aren’t you? It is great these lovely things are saved and used rather than just left to rot away.

So pretty!!! It must be hard, walking through an antique shop, to decide WHICH item to rescue! I’m sure they are all calling out to you. 🙂

They are but I look at the tags and those under $2 to $3 dollars (smaller) and $5 for the larger or the very small (mug rug size) for $0.25 to $0.50. This one was $0.50!!!!

I wonder, sometimes, about all those pcs that are put “someplace” for “someday” and then kinda die for lack of love!!! sad………………. I’m glad you enjoyed seeing it!

Wow, so pretty! I especially admire the tiny inner border.

    • treadlemusic says:

Hey there!!! Thanks so much for stopping by!!! That inner little border really was kinda fun…….a tad slow going but not at all hard. The piece really spoke what it wanted!!
