Dawned bright, sunny and with the prospect of hitting the 50s for an amazing December day. First off….
Yup…laundry on the lines and…….
OK, maybe I was pushing it a bit. Barefoot and shorts felt great, though!!!! It really appeared to be something other than the month it is!
Next up…..get some bread going. My breakfast bread of choice has been a “go-to” recipe for craisin pecan bread (dough made in the breadmaker and baked in the oven). The recipe may be found here, along with some yummy dill rolls. By lunch time, I had these…….
Off to the machines. I had seen an interesting tutorial on tube piecing the other day and wanted to try it before I totally lost track of the idea! So easy (although I did screw up the first 2 cuts….sigh………)! Chose my fabrics and went at it…………………
Interesting choices, eh??? I did 3 paired strips, cutting the strips each 2.5” wide (per Jenny Doan). Then chose another piece for the solid/contrast triangle………
Next step. Measure the strip sets width and cut that solid the same . Measurements are arbitrary as long as you follow the directions to cut the contrast strip the measurement of the strip sets.
Tube stitched. Now, to the cutting……
With the cutting/pressing completed, I played with block arrangements and had enough to make 2 table toppers/runners…….
I really like both! Must pick the borders………………
I decided to go with the border fabric for the backing, also, but was running out of the “bubbles” fabric, so piecing worked out beautifully.
Layering and pin-basting next………
All ready for Ms Sweetie……tomorrow!
When I started this post, my view had become this………
Blustery with a severe North wind…..BUT the temp is still in the upper 40s!!!! The sun just came back and there’s blue sky and a beautiful setting sun. “They” always say that if you don’t like the weather, just wait a few moments and………………
Good thing I’m not cooking dinner tonight, but more on that another time!
Interesting technique for quilting! And the bread . . . oh, the bread!
The bread sends out the best aroma! Quintessential “homey-ness”!!!!!!!
Looks like summer. 🙂 The bread has interesting look; must be yummy. Happy weekend.
“Summer” is hanging on for a bit more. Thunderstorms are in the forecast for Saturday night. Interesting!!!! Christmas Blessings to you and your family!!!! Hugs……
Sounds like a good day – love the runner – looks like an idea I’ll have to try too!
You will love it. So many possibilities!! Like not just 2 strips but how ’bout several of varying widths???? It doesn’t matter as long as the solid strip is the same width and all the strip sets you construct have the same measurements!!!
Hi Doreen! Wow, that looks nice – bare foot and your quilt project! I can hardly dry laundry outside. Even it’s sunny day, it’s short and with so much humidity they don’t dry well. Enjoy your sewing day! x Teje
The days have been amazing!!!! Thanks for popping by!!!! Hugs………….
What a productive day! Yummy bread and pretty table toppers.
It was! I’m pleased with it!!!!!!
Alright, I hung out sheets this morning, but not in barefeet and shorts. By early afternoon I had pulled them from the line due to clouds and rain.
That bread looks like something out of an artisan bakery. You amaze me with your bread creations.
If you were a wee(?) bit closer, I would gladly share!!!!! And, yes, I’m layered up right now. Shorts are history…….for a bit!!!! LOL!!!
