Rummaging in my stash/UFOs (Unfinished Objects), I came across a stitchery that I had done (gulp!) decades ago and decided now was the time to do something with it. Of course…..amidst all the other projects on my table (like the 2 toppers from yesterday’s post!!!)…..I got busy adding a border, layering and…….FUN!!!!! A neat finish, thanks to Ms Sweetie and some Glide and Superior metallic threads…….
I decided to do a simple(?) echo around each embroidery and crescent/”banana” echo shapes to fill in the background. Very effective, no marking and the embroidered design remains the “star”.
This is for those of you who have seen some of the more complex marked designs done on vintage linens and dismissed the idea that doing one was beyond you………please, reconsider and give it a go. The background is merely echoed arcs that change direction periodically for variety. So get out that pencil & sketch book, do some doodling and then grab one of those linens that lie lurking in the dark recesses of your closet/storage and have at it!!!! You may very well surprise yourself!!!!!
Thread: (top) Glide poly & Superior Metallic #025 Variegated Gold; (bobbin) Connecting Threads Essential Pro poly. Batting: Hobbs Heirloom cotton/poly (80/20)..single layer.
Your stitching and quilting are both gorgeous! A lovely finish!
Thanks so much, Diann, and thanks for taking a few moments to leave your kind words….please, stop by again.
It looks great. Love the border. A fab way to complete a UFO.
It did come out nice…….always a bit of a surprise ending in projects that don’t really have a sketched “plan”!!!! (which is most of them lately!! sigh……..)
What a fun little project…It’s beautiful!
Thanks so much, Jackie!!!!! Hugs……
Love it. Great find in your stash.
This is stunning! and it was sitting around with the other UFOs? You amaze me!
Well………..ya know how it goes. You see something that you just HAVE to do, do most of it (in this case, the embroidery) and move on! Yup! The only thing really created is another UFO!!!! LOL!!!!!
Yay for you for finishing! I like everything, and think the print binding is especially effective.
Oh thanks so much!!! I keep telling myself that I just canNOT keep saving these luscious fabrics!!! LOL!!!!
Absolutely beautiful!!!!
Hope to bring it along Monday…..see you then…………………
That’s a beautiful finish! Congrats!!!
Wendy…..thanks so much! I do hope this encourages those who are “afraid to launch” into the fmq pool!!!!! The water’s awesome and it’s incredible fun!!!!
Wow!
Thank you, Friend…………..Hugs.
This is stunning.
