Yup……we made it! After a quick exit from Minnesota (on Dec. 27th), to beat an incoming snow/ice storm, we arrived in Harlingen on the 31st. The days have been very cool (highs in the upper 40s), rainy and, as always, windy. The next few days show to be closer to “normal”/average……approaching the mid-70s. So, we are making this new little abode (purchased last March) more our own. With DH’s bike parked in the patio area and the tole painting on the window flower box, it’s definitely more “us”!!!!!!
Our little “breakfast nook”………
Thanks to Houston friend, JoAnn, the above table topper has come along from our 5th-wheel camper to cozy up our new space. Thank you, JoAnn!!!!! Also, for the use of all your paints for the Tole Painted window box board!!!!
Next is needed my “Ocean Quilt”!
Little by little, things are shaping up. Please, stop by again…….I so love our visits! Blessings and hugs……………..
Very nice. I’m starting to wonder where we will end up wintering when our time comes.
This area is so very welcoming and seems to have many from MN, MI, MO, and smatterings of the rest of the states, with a significant number of Fr. Canadians. Met a couple from MI last eve! The East Coast folks seem to migrate more FL way. I will say that the cost of living here is very reasonable and the population density a lot more acceptable than either FL or AZ!!!
Welcome Back! See you Thursday morning!!!
Thank you for the welcome, Jan. I’m so looking forward to it!
It’s looking very homey!
It is definitely taking on more of “our” look.
I love your photos. Before the New Year, we had warm (our warm) humid weather, but now when writing this we have -16.6ºF. It is cold for us also. Brr.
That is chilly!!!! Our bones don’t do as well in such temperatures!!! LOL!!!!!
I am happy to be sharing a state with you! 🙂
So glad you made it down without any snags with the weather.
I hope you have a relaxing time in Texas.
I am sure our time will become relaxing as soon as our little tasks are accomplished……..the huge “up side”=no snow!!!!! Yippee!!!!!
So glad you got out before the storm – it wasn’t nice! It looks like you are making your new place your own. I didn’t realize how far south you were – I just looked at a map – you are a long ways from Minnesota! Enjoy.
It really is a long way!! We’ve done it in 2 very long days in the past but 3 days works a lot better!!! Last March we came down to “close the deal” and did it 2 days each way. Quite the “enduro”!!!!! LOL!!!!
Looks like you’re settling in nicely, Doreen!
It feels a lot like a Southern version of my Northern “nest” (just as soon as I get a sewing machine set up!!!!)!!!! Hugs….
YAY, You made it, now the fun of making everything “yours”!!! Snow forcasted here for Wednesday and Thursday, I’m thrilled 🙂
I’m totally happy for you, Jackie!!!!! I really don’t think there are many of “your kind” that I can count among those I know!!!! LOL!!!! I know you’ve been waiting patiently(?) for the white stuff!!!! Hugs………
Wow I have been thinking of you the past couple days as I haven’t seen any posts since you left MN and was hoping you made it through the flooded area fine. Good to know you are settling in.
Thank you so much for your kind thoughts…….they mean so much!!!! Hugs…….
So thankful you made it safely to Texas. I do love how you’re already personalizing your new home with your style.
Looks like a real cozy home now.
I do like it!!!! I had planed to bring so many more “homey” things but they will wait til next time!!!! Making lists already!!!
Glad you are here
Me, too, and Tom…….definitely!!!! LOL!!
do these type of places come furnished or did you have to do all that? I hope you will be comfortable – do you have a good sewing space? Looks like neighbors are close – I hope they will be friendly! have fun
It came totally furnished right down to some toothpicks (which got tossed…LOL!!!). There is a small desk area that will hold the Juki I ordered yesterday. I’m only doing small/vintage linen type things here (space constrictions dictate). There is a quilting room in the community center with lockable cabinets for machines/supplies, but I haven’t checked on space there. The room is open daily and gals come to quilt/sew. Here’s a post with a photo of the room: https://treadlemusic.wordpress.com/2015/01/26/another-chapter-begins/ The (gated) park is an RV park with areas of larger (mobile-home type units), smaller park models (like ours) and RVs. We are more on the edge of the “permanent” units and have more of the 5th wheel/pull behind units across our drive so it’s not as crowded. I’ll post a view that direction soon. They seem to be quite friendly thus far. Still checking out activities!!!!!
Glad to see you made it there. Table topper looks great on the table.
Thanks for ALL your contributions!!!!!
Happy Snowbirding!
Thank you, Friend!!!!!!Got my Juki ordered yesterday for this little place. Looking forward to its arrival……withdrawals setting in!!!!
