It’s Syttende Mai in Spring Grove (MN)………….

http://sgsyttendemai.com/index.htmlAnd that means the annual set-up for our guild’s little quilt show at the town’s library. Always a challenge, we approach the task with knowledge gained from previous efforts. Using the book “stacks”, with their narrow aisles, is always a concern. How do you display these oversized finishes??? How do we drape them over computer terminals and various display tables already in place?? Each year we ask ourselves if there couldn’t be a better venue……one that isn’t too large (this is a very small display) and doesn’t have cooking going on (the Fest building is home to breakfast each day and the odor of grease/waffles, etc, really does permeate everyone and everything!!! Hmmmmm…..well, grab a cuppa and sit back for a bit while the transformation occurs……………. IMG_5935IMG_5937  Each member creates her own special personality block!IMG_5938IMG_5939

The challenge is to get everyone to actually put one together!!!!

IMG_5940  There’s a separate room for vintage quilts and we definitely fill it!!!!!IMG_5942IMG_5943IMG_5944IMG_5948IMG_5941IMG_5947IMG_5946IMG_5949IMG_5950IMG_5951  There’s a section for military themed quilts….IMG_5952IMG_5953IMG_5955  The show is open Saturday only……..I do hope there’s good “traffic”….the weather is forecast to be beautiful!!!!! My day is scheduled for a machine quilters’ meeting so I won’t have opportunity to attend.

Have an awesome weekend!!! See y’all on Monday………………..

The displays are amazing. So much variety and colour. I do hope it all goes well. What a pity you can’t be there. 😦

I’ve made it every other year but this time my “S.E.A.M.S.” (“SouthEast Area Machine Stitchers”) group is meeting and that just can’t be missed! We meet every other month and I’ve not been to a meeting since last Nov. I’m the only one who doesn’t own a longarm machine (do the “sit-down” thing!!).

I love this and so wish I was able to see it in person. What a lovely display—I especially liked the light blue circular patterned one—that is a really unique pattern that i have not seen before and it caught my eye. Lovely post as always, Doreen.

I thought you said it was small? It looks big to me, lovely job and all the quilts are beautiful. Have a nice weekend.
