No real surprise, hmmmm? On the last leg of our recent trek, we passed through Menasha, WI, with the intention of visiting just one more quilt shop…….”Primitive Gatherings”. I have been a follower of Lisa’s blog for quite a while and had recently decided to join in on her Christmas SAL (Sew ALong)…..and it’s not too late for you all to come along!!!! (See my first post here) The patterns are on her blog and are free until December! There’s 2 versions: Country & City. AND she is doing it in red & white!!!!! LUV!!! Actually, one can do the patterns in any fabric combo (using one’s stash?????!!!!!) but I chose the “City” version and thought I could just order the ‘kit’/fabric from her. The red/white (upper left) is Moda Bella solids. Lovely. I believe I’ll redraft the blocks to a 12” size, though, so there’s ample room for the quilting…..don’tcha think??
Anyhow, back to the original thread in this post. The shop is not large!! But, once inside……..inspiration hits!!! Lisa’s patterns, hand dyed wools and fabrics are totally gorgeous!!!!!
I must say, there’s not one square inch that is wasted space….amazing! Of course I had a brilliant(?) idea….how ‘bout if I swap out the white, in that Christmas SAL, for something else??? The hunt began………and the results are…….
With the 12” size change and keeping the red as the focus & paisley as the background I’m totally loving this one. I just need one more piece to give it some “spark” and, I think, it will be the “gold” that’s in the paisley. Another Bella solid is the goal. Stay tuned…………………………………

Drooling, what a shop 😁
You sure have got that right!!! Will post my latest additions……………I MUST get to piecing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!
[J+D] Here in UK shops like this (or at least haberdashery shops) used to commonplace – certainly until the late 80s. They are now rarer than hens teeth. And as to shops specializing in just quilting supplies: well that can only be the USA!!! This would be heaven for us. Our life in crafts started with quilt-making, and we still have the pattern books we ordered from the USA.
Wow!!! Just took a little cruise about your bloggy home and love it! We are so blessed and don’t know if! Please, visit me again when you get a little moment. Sending hugs……Doreen
Love that paisley, and can’t wait to see your version. I’m just printing at this point, but one can always hope!
Once printed you will have it! That’s the important thing 💞
Hey there Doreen! Looks like a really super place. I like your idea too! Cookie
Hey there!!!! So glad you came by for a visit!!!!! Thanks for the encouraging words and please stop by again!!!!!! We so enjoyed our visit with you both. Next time……maybe we can plan a tad longer!!! Sending hugs……………….
Just popped over to look at Lisa’s blog. I would love to join the SAL but I have too many other commissions for the holiday season to try to catch up with hers. I will watch it with interest and maybe next year…………
Really get that!!! If you like the block patterns, though, you are able to print them off and keep them for free. Once she finishes with the SAL they will be available through her shop as a pattern to be purchased. Just an FYI……….
My second daughter recently moved from Appleton to Menasha. Glad you found a lovely quilt shop there.
I/we didn’t get to see much of the town….just the little corner with the shop. We were going to grab lunch but hit the road for home instead!!
That looks like a wonderful place I will have to put it on my wish list.
I would highly recommend a stop (but….then, I kinda do that a lot!!!! LOL!). Hugs…………….
I stopped at 1-2 quilt shops while we were in the Southwest US and my vacation fabric stash was over $500. Now to put them to use.
LOL! I totally get that one!!!!! Guess one can’t caress those lovelies forever!!!!!!
