A step by step.
Step #1…….Make the swirl/spiral……. Begin at the yellow arrow, swirl in then back out to green arrow.
Step #2…….begin first plume…………..
Step #3 Continue with the rest of the plumes, ending at the yellow arrow (below) and ………
(Step #4) do a backtrack/echo over the top of the plumes. One motif finished. On to the next…
Step #5…(following red arrows and form the next spiral/swirl)……….
I hope this break down helps you to see the progression of the stitching. The size of the spirals, number of plumes, etc, of course, can have an number of modifications to fit the needed space.
Let me know if you have need of further clarification. Have an awesome day!!!!!!!
Thank you for your very clear tutorial!
You are more than welcome! I’m so glad that what was ‘clear’ in my mind was able to be conveyed to others. Each person learns so differently!!!!! Please stop again!!!! Hugs……..
This was great, thanks
So happy to oblige!!!!!! Have fun!!!!!! Hugs…..
I feel like I just had a personal quilting lesson. This breakdown makes it seem possible! Thanks so much, Doreen!
😀 It definitely IS possible!!!! What pulls it all together and smooths out the plume wobbles is that last echo stitching…….it really is the “icing on the cake”!!!!! LOL!!!!!
Thanks for this tutorial… that’s such a lovely design – I will try it soon…
Hugz
Wonderful!!!!!! Enjoy!!! Hugs…….
Thank you! Thank you for the very clear explanation of the stitch path! I believe I can do this on my domestic! Hugs!
I’m sure you can!!!! I’m stitching on a Juki 2010/DSM (domestic) and find this design to be quite easy to achieve in both large and smaller scales! So happy this “clicked” with your thought processes!!!! Hugs……………
Thank you! I was just asking someone else how they did their feathered swirl, which is very similar to this one, and this is a great tutorial!! It’s like you read my mind! The arrows are very helpful too. Thanks again!
I’m so glad it answered your questions! Let me know if there are any further steps/things that you would like clarified!!! Sending quilty hugs…….
The ability to stitch these designs never fails to impress me.
Just a substitute for paper and pencil (for me, anyhow! LOL!) I seem to “sketch” better using the machine than with pencil!!!!!
