“Tessellation” piecings are always a fun visual. (a pattern that contains 1 figure shape that fits together without gaps between the shapes=tessellation)
For a free pattern of this piecing, go to Jeni Baker’s blog “In Color Order” and, for a link to a tutorial for the fmq stitching motif, see my previous post here (“Funky Feather Swirl”).

D > I like the way that the design gives the appearance of being pieced with cross-shapes (which would be difficult to keep flat and neat), but in fact is made with strips of square-rectangle-square, and then probably put together into squares 3×3. It looks complicated, but is simple. So much of what you do looks to be beyond my capabilities, but this encourages me again …. but then there’s the quilting pattern, which I’ve never done, and as ever – in your expert hands – looks AWESOME!
Thanks so much, my Friend! I really love such “tessellating” pieced patterns. They give the viewer so much to really look at!!!
Beautiful quilt – the quilting pattern really brings it to life! Love the funky feather swirl. Feathers are my nemesis at present… 🙂
They were mine til I really looked at them as a “tear drop/paisley” and, if you’re not familiar with Wendy-“Ivory Spring” blog, check out one of her feather tutorials that made “sense” to my brain…..https://ivoryspring.wordpress.com/2011/11/18/thread-talk-from-my-sewing-machine-27/ . We each learn differently and approach feathers with an individual personality. Keep practicing til your personal feather type is “born”……..hugs……
You are the best! Thanks for the advice and hugs. Made my day. 🙂
You are so very welcome…..always!!!!! ;-D
Mmmmm looking great. 🙂
Thank you ;-D
