These past few days have seen record breaking heat in these parts….94F+ is a tad(?) unusual and, may I say, a tad unwelcome by many who find themselves with outdoor tasks. Among those, DH and DS#2 are adding the last touches to the garage build of last summer…… Those posts (one more has been put in place since this photo) will be vinyl wrapped in white…..then gutters. Work moves to finishing the inside…..another day.
Last Saturday, DH and I did traffic control for our town’s event: Root River Triathlon. Who would have thought that, due to the high water levels of the river last Spring forcing the event’s postponement, August-like temps would be a consideration in September! The day dawned bright, sunny and warm……
My corner. Not heavily traveled but………….
And they came………… Now, I/we have never participated in anything even remotely close to the required pace/activity as this…….especially in toasty temps!
But, enough of that and on to quiltier subjects. This last (forever) project is finally complete. I will refer you to previous posts, via this post, for background. That last vintage piece is now this…………. and this one, plus the 2 completed earlier, make up this trio………….
The envelope-styled pillow cover is closed with a ribbon wrapped button (from my mom’s button collection that I inherited a couple years ago).
Simple but effective. A couple more thoughts…..but, I think I’ll save those for next time. Have an awesome rest-of-the-day. My local little quilt gathering is this evening and our recent heat wave has just been ended with the passage of a cool front bringing 0.4” of rain in about 30 minutes and a drop of around 20 degrees……..very welcome! Sending hugs out to all………………
Beautiful!
Those pillows are so awesome!!! We were camping at Lanesboro, very unexpectedly with that warm weather. It felt great to be kayaking!
I bet it did!!!! Thanks so much for the “kudos”…hugs……..
Those pillows are delightful, love the contrasting white against red! The rain and cool temps came last night just after Rick finished mowing the yard. We really really needed the the rain…and the cooler temps.
Yes, the grass is back to a lovely green! I LUV that red/white, too……….
Thank you for volunteering.
Those pillows are stunning.
Always fun to (kinda) visit with others (as they pass by)………..
The pillows turned out so beautifully with the red! WOW! I was shocked to see your temps, because we have been cold long enough to have to turn on the heat! We had two nights with soft frost last week, but now it is warming back up to mid 60’s, so maybe I’ll quit shivering! 😆
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr……….;-(
Gorgeous pillows. 🙂
Thank you, Lyn 😀
We are still hot here. Supposed to get a bit cooler later in week and it can’t come any too soon I say. Love the pillows with quilt, very striking.
Thanks, friend. The coolness has arrived, although the humidity is still hanging around……cool and clammy now…hmmmmmm
We’ve got very light misting here this eve…would love to get an inch or so, plus the cooler weather. Sooo anxious for fall.
Yup – you are hotter than us at the moment – though our temps are records for this time of year…. the world temps are crazy. I love, love, love your cushions…
