I left off with the task of stitching something beyond the surrounding feather motifs….. Taking some of the fullness away, along with toning down some of the ‘shine’ would help to highlight those feathers. Since, I’m stitching this on my Juki (DSM) I do a lot more free-hand fmq without rulers. This was the solution……
and it seems to work very well……
There’s “piano keys” and then there’s “toothpicks”, as in this instance!!! This is surprisingly easy to accomplish free-hand!
Now, on to choosing the binding. From a glistening snowflake to a shining star……..perfect……..
And the finish ……..
Thread: (top) Glide, 60 wt, & Isacord, 40 wt; (bobbin) Connecting Threads Essential Pro poly, 70 wt. Batting: Hobbs Heirloom cotton/poly (80/20). The top/gold fabric is “Radiance” by Robert Kaufman (cotton/silk).
Note: ‘click’ on any photo to enlarge. Thanks so much for popping by. At the moment, we are beginning the packing, etc, to be on our way South in search of some warmer temps tomorrow. The next post will be from South Texas. Sending hugs, always……….

You make it all sound so easy…
Safe travels to Texas. I can only imagine how excited you (and especially DH) are to escape this deep freeze of Minnesota.
So sorry for the huge “delinquency” of my response(s). We are settled (kinda) in our little TX cottage (with temps @ 38 currently! I know, it’s a lot better than what you have!!) but not quite ‘up to speed’ yet. A couple more grocery treks needed….ha! Hugs…………
Lovely. Your binding and gold are just perfect.
Have a safe trip to South Texas, Enjoy your time there, It only seems like weeks since you were packing to return home from there. How time flies.
Funny………..those were my thoughts, too! I try to keep my mind on the warmth down there (sub-zero here). Hugs………….
wow I love how you mixed …looks like a snowflake
I thought so, too! Just a dusting of the white stuff here but sub-zero readings makes the packing a little easier!! LOL!! May you have a very Joy-filled New Year!!! See you in the Spring!!!!!
