It was a “frosty” one and perfect for the wintry weather we have been experiencing (especially over last night with the addition of 2”+ of the white stuff!). The top (approx. 53”x70”) was pieced by a friend for her home during these snowy months and I just couldn’t refuse to create some sparkly magic! The “thread” was by Sulky, called “Sliver” and the ‘color’ was Holoshimmer—-tons of sparkle!! It has some drawbacks, as it is actually a narrow ‘ribbon’ of polyester laminated with highly reflective foil, rather than a round thread. Because of this, it seems to be a tad sticky as it goes through/around the tension disks, etc, and has a tendency to break. BUT, it’s so shimmery and reflects all the surrounding colors so it was perfect for this application! Size 14 needle (on my Sweet 16) ballpoint did very well. I, also, used a monofilament nylon to SID (stitch in the ditch) around the trees.
I recently received my new rulers from Bethanne Nemesh…………
. Love the green tint!
Swirls and curls and more swirls and this one is a sweet “finish”……………………
Can you see a bit of the sparkle below?? It really does shimmer…….
A single layer of Hobbs Heirloom cotton/poly batting was used and, as always, I used Connecting Threads Essential Pro poly, 70 wt, on the bobbin.
Moving on to the next item…a bridal gown alteration for a December 1st wedding. “Only” a hem…..many chiffon layers, linings and crinolines….sigh….. Till next we meet……………..
Lovely shimmer there! It will be a relief when satin is back in!😜
🙂
The quilt is really lovely, I have some of that thread but haven’t used It yet, good to know it breaks so will go slow. Have fun
Yes, go slow, loosen the tension a bit and you may have to clean between the tension disks. Thnx for the visit! Hugs…………………
