A dear friend became a grandpa for the second time….a little “sis” for her older brother……..and he asked if there was the possibility of a quilty something that could fly her way. Of course! (His first grandbaby…a boy…received this quilt several years ago) A quick trip to the McAllen (TX) quilt shop (A Block Away) yielded these cute fabrics: With the addition of the perfect red for “punch”, I have this to work with……
Some simple measuring, cutting and stitching, the result is this………..
The name is “Raelyn” and I fused all in prep for raw edge applique using ‘Turkey Red’ Connecting Threads Essential Pro poly. The quilt stitching will be done using that same thread……a basic E2E (Edge to Edge) stitching. A close-up of the name………….
The finished size will be 36”x 50”..the perfect baby size. Hobbs Heirloom 80/20 will be the batting and a solid cotton for the backing…since this is going to be more for the Spring/Summer.
Back to the machine. The temps are struggling to move out of the low 40s/upper 30s and, yes, we’re just above the Mexico border!!!!! Setting some records here—-not the pleasant kind! Hope your stitchings are progressing nicely. Till next time…….
Very sweet quilt! I’s take your low 40’s in a heartbeat! 😂
And today it’s 93F for a forecast!!!! Seems like everyday we switch from heat in the morning to A/C in the afternoon!!!! Hugs……….
Enjoy the warmth! The birds are starting to tell us that spring is coming even if it doesn’t look like it. We were happily suprised yesterday to hit 34 and the storm that looked scary stalled and came late, then only an inch of snow, and the wind was short lived here in town. Hoping it was similar out east, because the babies calves are starting to come and they didn’t need 8 inches of show and 50 mph winds!
Oh my, that is so cute, Grandpa and baby will love it. Hope your enjoying the weather down there, wish I could join you. We are having really cold weather and it’s unusual for Leamington, hope it warms up soon. Enjoy.
Pat…..the weather has definitely taken a summery turn with 93F forecast for today and mid 80s for the next week. A total switch from all the snow that’s plaguing the northern tier!!! Thanks so much for popping by…..hugs…………….
