Eons have past……………

Since I’ve been here!!! Yikes!! Onward…………. Festival of Quilts/Uffda Fest (Spring Grove, MN) happened last weekend. A town event that I have done a demo during the two day schedule for the last many years……..set up and ready….IMG_1104 The vintage piece I chose has a scalloped edging with beautiful flower appliques (in perfect condition right from the thrift shop!!!). I used a cotton/wool blend batting for this one and Aurifil thread (not used to the amount of lint created by cotton thread!). The stitching (micro-stippling) went, and is going, beautifully…….LUV MY JUKI!!!!…….IMG_1099 One thing I did differently on this one is I did a bit of marking so that my design motifs would be more alike. I grabbed a couple of hand-quilting stencils and manipulated them a tad and then filled the outlines with feathers..IMG_1538   IMG_1100The center portion is stitched, now on to the borders………………………………………IMG_1106 IMG_1535 The colors aren’t photographing very well today….it really is a beautiful delicate peachy pink with white flowers and leaves that are a dusty blue gray. IMG_1536 Thread: (top) Aurifil, 50 wt (bobbin) Connecting Threads Essential Pro poly, 70wt. Batting: Hobbs Tuscany Collection Cotton/Wool Blend. The dimensions of the cloth are 33” square. The stitched swag border will be fun with “match-stick” stitching. Final edge will be the (manufacturer’s)  scalloped edge. I promise I will show that process!

Summer has come to a screeching halt with plummeting temps and the possibility of snowflakes in the air and freeze warnings for everyone…ugh! But….we’re tough, right???!!!! Till next time…….stay warm with all those beautiful quilts………with hugs……….

  1. I can’t believe you would take on such a delicate project at a public demonstration! I would need silence to concentrate, maybe work 10 minutes at a time, take a long break, take a long breath before returning to work. I know you are expert at this, but still! I am in awe of your skills.

Thank you so much! My only “problem” with this type of setting is that I get to chatting a tad much, sometimes. There’s always so much interest in (especially) the micro-stippling………and from guys!!!!! They are very surprised that the machine is a totally straight stitch one that does nothing else!! No stitch regulator or computor program.
Having ppl stand and watch really has gotten so much easier over the many years I’ve been doing this. I kinda get in “the zone” and go……..Thanks so much for popping by…hugs…..
