Yeah, I know……..well….ummm…Friday kinda slipped on by, so here we are………..(warning: photo heavy document!!!!)
I give you the front views:
And the obligatory (and often more enjoyed!) back views:
As always, I used Connecting Threads Essential Pro poly 70 wt in the bobbin. Top threads: Superior Metallic #025 Variegated Gold, Isacord and Aurifil Mako 50 wt.
The battings are Hobbs cotton/poly (80/20) topped with a poly batt…med. loft.
The panel is Robert Kaufman Fabric: “Winter’s Grandeur Christmas Tree”…24”x 42” (finished).
Previous posts regarding this panel may be found here & here. Click on any photo to enlarge.
Working with a panel is a great way to practice FMQ (free motion quilting). There are no seams/junctions to deal with and it’s a quick buy, ‘sandwich’, stitch project. Many of the designs ‘speak’ loudly with suggested motifs and the rest falls into “the sky’s the limit” category.
Thanks for tagging along on this most recent finish. Now, it’s your turn to get to that 15 minutes of “play” to practice, practice, practice!!!!
Easter Blessings to you all, my dear Bloggy Friends. Til next time……………………………….
Oh so lovely finish! The micro-stippling is gorgeous – I do love to micro-stipple myself. Learned on my DSM and yes, I like the DSM and sit-down for both. Have gotten so used to the large space with sit-down and hard sometimes to go back to DSM. Wonderful finish!!
Totally understand that!!! My Juki is in for an “every 5 year, or so” check up…LOL!!! I’m using my 41 year old Elna!!! Sews like a dream BUT no needle-up/needle-down!!! Have to move the fly wheel when finished stitching…re-learning! LOL!!!!!
What’s the “throat” size on your Juki and…are they making the Juki’s now with a longer throat? Just wondering…
Throat size is 9″ and because it’s totally mechanical/industrial w/ internal motor, there’s great visibility above the needle (machine gotten from Raichert’s http://www.raichert.com/ The model is the TL2010Q and has free shipping with the best price I’ve found (if you have a Juki dealer near you, you may want to check there, too!) Recently I heard the sale price was $899. Has a ton of great features and comes with all the necessary feet/accessories!
This is a real stunner!!! I’m loving everything about it!
For a person (“moi”) who loves the quilting process, these panels are just made to order!!!!!! Thank you for your sweet comment, Friend……………hugs………….
just lovely… so much detail….
Hugz
I do enjoy the smaller details which is why, I think, I like FMQ on a DSM or a sit-down mid-arm!!! Thank you for taking a moment to leave those sweet words. Hugs……………..
It really looks great.
It finished a ton better than how I felt it started….hehehe. It is a good example of FMQ, which I will use at my next workshop. Hugs………
Fabulous, as always! And, yes, you should make sure to show the back every time!
Will do!!!! It really is the reason I use a solid/muslin fabric for the backing. Fun!!!!! Hugs………
Happy Easter Doreen!
I will study your pictures closely! It is just FMQ-bliss!
At the moment I am happy piecing blocks for a week or two, maybe after that I will do some freemotion myself. A colleague gave me lots of silk to play with. I will read up on your blogpost on silk quilts for inspiration.
Hugs,
Esther
You will HAVE to keep me posted on your silk experience. If you have any questions/comments let me know!!!!!! Easter Blessings to you, also!!!!!!
Okay, I could have seen more photos and been perfectly happy. All I can say is WOWSERS!! It is gorgeous, but you are right, the back is breathtaking, too. You have such major skills and it’s so fun to see your work. And as a lovely side effect, you are eight months ahead of schedule for Christmas!
Elizabeth
That last thought is a totally foreign one for me!!!!! I am never ahead on that one!!!! I’m doing a FMQ workshop the end of April and thought this would be a good example……just coincidence that it’s got a double use!!! LOL!!! Hugs………
Beautiful front, love it!
Thanks so much! I’m looking for another, now! LOL!😊
This is gorgeous!! I”m pleased you showed the back too, as I didn’t realise how much quilting you had done on the printed part! Looks like so much fun 🙂
This had all the ingredients to equal FUN! I’m not super exited about piecing…this is a panel. I’m in between clients’ quilts for a short time….I only needed to “sandwich” this. The motifs I stitched are a combination of what is already in the print and the “Feather Galaxy”/swirl-feather that has been on Karen Miller’s Fb group “Free Motion Quilting Frenzy”. This piece had no deadline and it’s for me so I just kept adding stitches!!!!! LOL!!!!! I’m glad you like it, too!!!!! Please, come again………….
Stunning. Total #CreativeGoodness.

(smiling) Thanks so much!!!! Still in “learning mode” with improvisational background fill!!!! It’s loads of fun, though!!!! Anything goes style for sure!!!! Hugs……….
Whoa – that is just beautiful!
Thanks so much, Lynette! It turned out better than I at first thought it would (once I figured out that ‘over-the-top/excess quilting {dubbed by me “Victorian FMQ”} in the background was finished!!!). Please, stop by again!!!!! Easter Blessings and hugs……..
