Another “love”, coming in a close 2nd to quilting, is finding those unusual places to enjoy unique food creations. Harlingen (TX) is home to so many excellent restaurant, bakery, taquerrias, eating experiences that it will take years to visit them all!!!! However, DH and I (on the advice/urging of KB Jan) thoroughly enjoyed lunch, after the KB quilt meeting, at the “Antigua Bakery and Café”. With a “tea room” atmosphere (the restaurant is located in a ‘house’ structure) but with a menu that would please all comers!
The roasted Poblano soup was amazing as was the house-made hummus (available by the pound for carry-out) that accompanied it.
DH had the chicken salad (available for carry-out by the pound!) sandwich and I had a vegetarian artichoke/avocado sandwich (to “die” for!!!!). We opted for the 1/2 sandwich that included the above soup and salad (of the day…..which was Asian)…………. We will definitely be going back!!!!! Even DH spied many other offerings that were “must tries”!!!!!! Our little table may be seen through the doorway.
Although the temps were pushing 100F, the ride was a nice one!
A huge 5-star recommendation to visit this café (open for breakfast and lunch ‘til 3:30).
